Chapter Twenty Two

"He seems a fine young man." Cynthia Evans said while putting some veggies on her plate.

They are having dinner and the woman opened up a conversation about Brickley because they saw him when he drove her home last night.

"He is." Simpleng tugon niya habang patuloy lang siya sa pagkain dahil hindi siya sanay sa ganitong mga usapin

"But we are not sure about his intentions." Singit naman ni Harold. "Because if he is serious about you, then he should have come and introduced himself to us."

"Oh, will you stop being so old school?!" Sita ng ginang sa asawa nito. "You should act nice and cool so you won't scare the young man." At saka bumaling sa kanya. "Because I think, our Yasi liked that boy so much. She's in love with him!" Natatawang turan nito.

"What?" Naalarmang tanong niya.

"Oh come on, dear. I can see it in your eyes that you love him, that he has already whipped you so bad. You don't have to hide it from us. You should invite him over so we could meet him." Saka hinawi ng ginang ang buhok niya.

"Yeah, I need to talk to him too- man to man. I want to hear his intentions and his plans towards you." Dagdag naman ng matandang lalaki. "If he thinks that he could have your hand that easily then he is wrong. He should pass my series of tests before he can ask you to marry him."

Doon naman nanlaki ang mga mata niya sa narinig.

"Marry me?! Where did that come from?!" Gulat niyang tanong.

"Oh stop it, Harold!" Saway ng ginang. "You're freaking her out." At saka naman muling bumaling sa kanya. "It's alright dear, we are not rushing things here. We are just too happy to know that you have finally found a nice man whom you'll gonna marry soon and have kids so you could start your own little family." Masayang paliwanag nito.

Doon siya mas lalong naalarma. Saan ba nanggagaling ang mga pinagsasasabi ng dalawa sakanya? Paano nito iyon nasasabi na para bang normal lang ang lahat?

Kasal?

Asawa?

Anak?

Pamilya?

Those words were not yet in her plans right now, and she's starting to freak out. Isn't it just enough to be happy just like that? Why make things more complicated than it already is?

"Why?" Yun lang naisatinig niya.

Nagkatinginan naman ang dalawa sa tanong niya.

"What do you mean sweety? Are you saying that you're not serious with that man?" Si Cynthia na mas mukhang naalarma pa kaysa sa kanya.

"It's alright Yasi if you're not being serious with him. It is good to have a lot of options, rather than tying yourself with someone you weren't so sure about." Si Harold naman na kabaliktaran ang itsura sa asawa dahil sa ngiting nakapaskil sa mukha nito.

"Stop your nonsense advice!" Sita ng ginang. "You're putting a wrong idea on your daughter's head. She supposed to be finding love and not just goofing around with men."

"I'm putting a sense in her brain. I want her to think first before deciding on anything. You're the one who's giving her bad ideas like marriage. She's just twenty four for pete's sake! She's too young to get married!" Balik naman ng matandang lalaki. "Don't listen to your mother and just follow your instincts. Don't be too serious with men. You still have years ahead of you to decide which one you like the most."

"No!" Agad na agap naman ng ginang. "Don't listen to him, Yasi. It is better to start young so you can see your children and grandchildren growing up. It's best when you can still pass as an older sister to your kids rather than looking like a granny." At inirapan pa ang asawa para asarin.
