- Two days later -

"Where's Edmund?" Susan asked as her brother joined her and Lucy for lunch.
Peter sighed. "He said about an hour ago that he was tired so he went to bed." He mumbled. "I don't know what's going on Su. He's always tired or warn out and he says his scar's playing him up."
Susan sighed. "We really need to find out what's wrong." She muttered.
"The wand's been stolen." Lucy said suddnely.
Peter frowned. "I know." He said.
"Could she be back?" Lucy asked warily.
Susan shook her head. "How can she be?" She said. "She doesn't have a drop of Adam's blood."
There was silence for a while before Lucy spoke again.
"Edmund was complaining that his hand was hurting a few days ago wasn't he?" She said.
Peter nodded. "Yeah, he woke up and said it hurt." He said, a frown still on his face.
"The hag." Lucy whispered. "She took his blood - in the middle of the night."
Peter frowned even more. "One-" He said. "Both of us would've woken up. And two - he would've had a cut on his hand."
But Lucy shook her head. "Listen, I've been thinking about this all day." She said quickly. "Hags can do magic right? So all she had to do was cast a spell on the two of you so that you wouldn't wake up, take some blood, heal the wound, and leave."
Peter stared at her sister for a moment. "She can't be alive." He choked.
"Peter." Susan said quietly. "What if Lucy's right? What if that really is what happened and Jadis really is alive?"
Peter held his breath. "That still doesn't explain why Edmund's so tired all the time." He said.
Lucy's eyes suddnely went wide. "I'm going to the library." She said quickly.
"Why?" Susan asked.
"I remember reading something about something the other day." Lucy mumbled in reply before dashing out of the room.
Peter glanced quickly at Susan before running off after his sister, Susan following quickly behind.
The two reached the library and saw Lucy pulling down a rather large book from a bottom shelf of the furthest away bookcase.
Running over Peter helped her lay it out on the floor. Lucy then started turning pages, her eyes darting across each page. "Here!" She said suddnely, pointing at the middle of a page. "This spell, someone will get stronger whilst the other person gets-"
"Weaker." Peter finished in a whisper, reading the rest of the sentence. "Ed." He choked.
"Tell - tell me she's not back." Susan said, quickly panicking.
Peter glanced at the book. "This all fits. 'The person will start getting weaker - tired and warn out - whilst the other will get stronger'" He said.
"But Edmund's tired all the time, and gets out of breath when he shouldn't." Lucy said, a look of fear in her eyes.
"What else does it say?" Susan asked.
Peter sighed. "The person will keep getting weaker until they are unable to-" He stopped dead, eyes going wide.
"Unable to what?!" Susan said quickly, trying to peer over Lucy at the book.
Peter looked up at her. "Unable to live." He choked.
Susan's eyes went wide. "What?" She whispered.
"It also says that the person getting weaker has to kill the other person to break the spell." Lucy mumbled, staring at the page.
"Peter." Susan said slowly. "She's back, isn't she?"
Peter said nothing but just shook his head.
"Everything fits." Lucy said, her voice shaking. "Jadis is back, that hag has cast the spell, Edmund's now getting weaker whilst the witch is getting stronger. And Edmund's the one that has to kill her."
Peter took a deep breath.
"Peter it's obvious." Susan choked. "She's back."
"We - We dont know that for sure!" Peter said quickly.
Lucy sighed, turning the page, only for a peice of paper to fall out. "Er, guys." She said.
The two looked down and frowned at the paper.
Picking it up, Peter scanned across it. "It literally says everything we've just found out." He said slowly, his breathing quickening.
"And?" Susan asked warily, knowing by the look on her brothers face that there was something else.
"It's in the form of a note." Peter choked.
"A note from who?" Lucy asked.
Peter hesitated before showing them the note. At the bottom of the paper, clear as day was the name Jadis
"She's back." Lucy whispered.
"But -" Susan swallowed hard. "How do we tell Edmund?"
Peter stared at her, shaking his head. "I don't know." He mumbled.
Just then the door burst open and a faun ran into the room. "Your majesties! Thank Aslan I found you." He panted.
"Is everything alright?" Peter asked.
The faun shook his head. "It's king Edmund." He said.
Peter froze.
"He's passed out." The faun said. "And hit his head. Hard."
"Where is he?" Susan asked quickly.
"In his room." The faun said. "We've got him into bed but the gash on his head is bleeding."
Without a word Peter ran out of the room. He ran as fast as he could up to his room, the words she's back repeating themselves over and over again in his head.
As soon as he reached his and Edmund's room he burst through the door. Spotting Edmund laying in his bed he quickly ran over and sat on the edge of the bed, totally ignoring the faun that was pressing a cloth against Edmund's head.
"What happened?" Peter asked quickly after a moment.
The faun sighed. "We found your brother unconscious a few minutes ago. He'd obviously hit his head when he'd passed out, but the bleeding's stopped and the wound should heal easily."
Peter nodded slowly, taking hold of Edmund's hand, only to find it ice cold.
He turned around when he heard Susan and Lucy run into the room, Lucy holding tightly onto her cordial.
"He won't need that." The faun said softly as Lucy walked over and stood by the edge of the bed. "The bleeding's stopped now, and the wound will heal by itself, it just needs a bit of a clean."
Lucy nodded slowly, not taking her eyes off his brother.
The faun handed Peter the cloth before leaving the four alone.
"When do we tell him?" Susan choked as she sat beside Peter, pulling Lucy into her lap.
Peter hesitated as he dabbed at Edmund's head with the cloth. "When he wakes." He choked. "The other question is," He added. "How do we tell him? And what will he do when he finds out?"
