"How did training go?" Susan asked as they all sat eating dinner that evening.
Edmund sighed. "Awful." He mumbled.
Peter shook his head. "You were great Ed." He said.
Edmund stared at him. "I'm gonna have to be a bit more than great to kill the witch Peter!" He exclaimed.
"Well you still have a few more days of training." Lucy said.
Edmund nodded slowly. "Few days of training, a day and a half of traveling, a few days to kill the witch and get home before my birthday." He said.
"It'll work." Susan reassured him.
Edmund sighed. "I'm going upstairs." He mumbled, standing from his chair.
"But you've only eaten half of your dinner." Peter said slowly.
Edmund sighed again. "I'm not that hungry." He mumbled.
"Ed-" Peter sighed sadly. "You're getting weaker anyway, not eating isn't exactly going to help."
Edmund hesitated but left the room without a word, tears in his eyes.
Peter bit his lip. "I'm gonna go and talk to him." He muttered. "See if I can get him to come and finish his dinner. Not eating is just gonna make this all a whole lot worse."
Susan nodded. "See you in a minute." She said in barely more than a whisper.
Peter nodded and stood, leaving the room and going after his brother.
He caught him up half way to their room and called his name.
Edmund did nothing and just continued walking, ignoring Peter completely.
"Ed." Peter said again, walking a few steps behind his brother.
Edmund sighed. "What?" He said through gritted teeth as he stopped walking and turned to face Peter.
Peter stared at him for a moment. "Look." He said. "Not-"
"If you've come to tell me to finish my dinner the answer is a no." Edmund cut him off. "I'm not hungry."
Peter sighed. "What happens when you don't eat?" He asked suddnely.
Edmund frowned. "What?" He said.
"What will happen if you don't eat?" Peter said.
Edmund frowned even more. "You'll get weak." He mumbled.
Peter nodded. "And that's already happening to you Ed." He said slowly. "Not eating is just gonna make it worse."
"How can it get any worse?" Edmund spat.
Peter sighed. "I understand Ed-" He said.
"No you don't!" Edmund shouted, making Peter jump slightly. "You don't understand how scared I am! How worried! How tired! How sore! How exhausted I am!"
Peter sighed. "Ed-" He whispered.
"I don't wanna hear it." Edmund spat before turning and running away from his brother.
Peter reached out a hand to grab his shoulder, but failed. He didn't follow, he just stood there, watching as Edmund disappeared.☆☆☆
"Edmund?" Peter asked as he walked up to his brother who was in bed, buried beneath the blankets, his eyes closed. "You awake?"
"Well if I was asleep would I be able to answer you?" Edmund mumbled as his eyes slowly opened.
Peter smiled a little as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"What time is it?" Edmund asked.
"Eleven." Peter answered simply.
Edmund nodded and it was only then that he realised that Peter had a plate in his hand, but he couldn't quite see what was on the plate because of how dark it was. "What's that?" He couldn't help but ask.
Peter bit his lip. "Cake." He said slowly. "For you."
Edmund stared at his brother. "I'm not-"
"I get that you're not hungry." Peter cut him off softly. "But it's just a bit of cake, it'll give you some energy as well."
Edmund lay there, clearly hesitating. "Do I really need energy this time of night?" He joked.
Peter sighed. "No." He said. "But you do need to eat, I thought I could maybe tempt you with your favourite, chocolate."
Edmund stared at the slice of cake for a whole minute before he sighed. "Fine." He mumbled eventually.
Peter smiled and handed it to his brother.
Edmund stared at it for a moment before looking at his brother. "I'm sorry about earlier." He whispered.
Peter shook his head. "It's fine Ed." He said. "Really."
Edmund nodded slowly before looking back down at the cake. He didn't really want to eat it, but Peter was right, not eating would just make him feel worse than he already did. So hesitantly he took a bite, sighing as he did.
"What times training tomorrow?" He asked after half the slice was gone.
"Nine." Peter replied.
Edmund didn't look at all happy to be told this, but nodded anyway as he took another bite, feeling as though he might be sick any minute. "I can't eat anymore." He choked.
Peter bit his lip. "Alright." He gave in, sighing as he took the plate from Edmund and placed it on the bedside table.
"Thanks anyway." Edmund mumbled as Peter turned back to him.
Peter only nodded in reply as he placed a hand on Edmund's shoulder.
Edmund sighed. "This sword fighting is killing me." He muttered. "Everything aches already and I've only been training for a day!"
"I suppose you'll get used to it over time." Peter said quietly.
Edmund sighed. "I don't think I should've eaten that cake." He choked after a while.
Peter frowned. "Why not?" He asked.
"I feel sick." Edmund replied.
"I - I thought it would help." Peter mumbled.
Edmund sighed. "It probably has." He said. "I just need to get rid of the sicky feeling."
Peter nodded slowly.
"I-" Edmund went to say, but then he stopped.
"Ed?" Peter asked worridly, frowning.
Edmund swallowed hard before jumping out of the bed and running into the bathroom.
Peter sighed sadly and ran off after him. He bit his lip when he saw Edmund wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, taking a deep breath as he straightened up.
"Come here." Peter choked as he walked over and pulled Edmund into a hug.
Edmund sniffed quietly and hugged him back. "Sorry." He choked.
"You don't need to apologise Ed." Peter said. "I should be apologising for forcing you to eat." He added guiltily.
"You were only trying to help." Edmund said.
Peter sighed but said nothing as he felt Edmund's arms tighten around his back, causing him to pull his brother closer and place a kiss to the top of his head.☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
