[1 day into training]

"Why am I wearing this again?" you gestured to the purple kimono you were wearing. It had absolutely no pockets, so you couldn't fit the cochlear implant, or the watch in there. Also, it was the crack of dawn, so you were a little cranky. Most of the time, you'd sleep until noon, not caring if it was a school day or not.

"You have to blend in," Tsuki said. "Did you forget you're in a different time period."

You looked defeated at that statement. "Sorry," you said. "I'm just crabby in the morning."

"Well, you're gonna have to get used to it. This is about the time you should wake up every day."

Your face went from half asleep, to shocked in a millisecond. This was the time you'd wake up. One thing was for sure, your caretaker was serious about this demon slayer thing. It made the rock wall in front of you less intimidating. Wait, why were you two on the outskirts of the village you were in? Also why was there a rock wall? You looked back to the group of houses that were mere dots. Looking back up at the wall, you saw there were little crevices between rocks. It would be hard for someone to climb it, but not impossible. The rock wall was connected to, what seemed to be, part of a mountain that eroded awhile back. Like, a couple million years back.

Then, you felt Tsuki pat your shoulder. "See that eroded mountain," she said. "I want you to climb that."

At this point, your suspension of disbelief was broken. Actually, it was broken the second you learned about demons. Still, if this was gonna help you kill em, then you might as well do it. "Aight," you said. "I can do that."

You walked up to the rock wall and looked up. It looked even more intimidating up close. You didn't even know where to grip to start climbing. 'Whatever it takes to get home,' you thought. You put your foot and hand on one of the crevices in the rock. Then, you pulled yourself into the wall. While you struggled to climb, you kept thinking about getting back to New York.

[1 month into training]

You had started learning how to use a sword a couple weeks ago. That was all fine and good. Still, you weren't any close to fixing the watch and returning to your time. You could've thought you'd be here for six months tops. Already, one month has gone by and you're not even on step one to this whole prophecy thing.

'Keep my stance wide, keep my body lowered, as I'm moving forward balance is the key, right foot, left foot,' you thought. 'Now go even faster.'

Basically, you were repeating lyrics from Steven Universe in your mind. It felt so much like that too. Tsuki was Pearl and you were Connie. Not to mention the fact you were learning breathing techniques too. You were reminded of deep breathing activities you did in school where you had to listen to someone talk calmly for a half hour. Those things made you more stressed than you already were though.

"There are ten basic forms of lunar breathing. After those you get to create your own," Tsuki said. It was like a teacher was giving you a school project that you wouldn't do until the last minute. At least you don't have to do those anymore.

"Aight," you said.

"(Y/N), what did I tell you about saying 'aight?"

"People won't understand me if I do, and I need to blend in."

Tsuki nodded. An approving smile was on her face. "Good," she said. It was one simple word, but there was a lot of meaning behind that. No one had really shown you their approval before, except for Charlie. Now that she was gone, you kind of missed that. You still hold her cochlear implant close to your heart like it was a teddy bear. The hope from that was keeping you from ending it all.
