Upon morning, you had gotten mostly everything ready to leave Ethan and Yurei's small home. Taking one look back at the finished puzzle, you smiled. A blue spider lily was definitely a sight to behold. It was like seeing a blue rose in a flower shop. The florist working there said that blue roses don't occur naturally at all. You wondered if it was the same for the blue spider lily.
Ethan was floating by when you noticed him looking over the finished puzzle. He stared at it with wide eyes under the paper bag.
"The flower's pretty isn't it?" you said. "It's a shame they don't exist anymore." The spirit nodded as you both stood there in silence. It was a peaceful air that surrounded this place. You made it seem as if this was your old apartment all those years ago.
"It's more of a blessing for them to be gone."
You flinched, and turned in the direction of the voice. It was only Yurei. Her blonde hair was framing her shoulders instead of being tied up in a ponytail. You laughed awkwardly, "I didn't see you there."
"I wouldn't blame you if you didn't," Yurei said. "But as I was saying, I am glad those blue spider lilies are gone."
"Why is that?"
"It's because I wouldn't want Kibutsuji to get his hands on one of them."
You tilted your head. He wanted that flower? Was he serious? What would it do that could benefit him, make his fortress look a little nicer? You did hear of the flower's healing properties just yesterday. There was also that weird nickname Yurei has given you. Spider lily. It's basically the same flower that had could heal anything. You turned to Yurei. You could see your face reflected in her brown eyes. Her stare basically pierced into your soul. Ethan had floated away from the both of your to tend to a small flower bouquet.
"By the way," you said. "You wanted to talk about my glowy eye thing."
"Right of course," Yurei said. "Those eyes of yours aren't like anything anyone has seen before."
A hum was the only thing that came out of you. It was almost like all the air left you in a second. Those memories of your glowing eyes haunted you. Rengoku was killed because of those eyes. 'Curse my underlying guilt,' you thought. You squeezed your wounded wrist. Yet, the cuts couldn't withstand the emotional pain.
"What's so special about them?" you asked. "Other than them getting someone killed, and apparently almost killing me."
Yurei sighed, "Too put it simple, it's a rare reaction to an overflowing amount of stress. Your body was just acting accordingly on the train."
"So why did you want me to forget it?"
"Yukina had been doing a memory wiping spell on you and Charlie for years. When she actually died, I took over. The thing is, you got older and the spell wore off. Neither of us wanted your glowing eyes to show up ever."
You felt your heart stop for a second. 'That dangerous huh?' you thought. You covered your eyes with your arm. "Will this work to stop it?" you asked. Then, you felt Yurei tugging your arm away from your face.
"Spider lily, you still need to see," she said. "The best way is for your friends to help you. As I can't do very much as a ghost."
Your eyes drooped a little. That moment of telling your friends was something you were dreading. One at a time would be best for that. If it was all at once, there would be more eyes looking at your wounded wrist.
Suddenly, you heard a particularly loud woosh come from outside. You flinched, and looked in the direction of the sound. 'It could just be the wind right,' you thought. Yet, the sound didn't seem to be like something the wind could make. You grabbed onto the hilt of your sword. If it was a demon, then you had to be prepared to fight it. "I'll check it out," you said. Yurei nodded. Her expression was quite calm in the situation of some demon coming out of nowhere.
