TW: mentions of suicidal thoughts + worrying about those suicidal thoughts
A beige hallway is the first thing you see. It looked like a hospital of some sorts. Wait. Weren't you in a fight earlier? You were about to strike down the shriveled demon but something must have happened. You look down a bit to realize that your uniform was ruined. Part of it was ripped to show the top part of your chest. Where your heart should be. Thankfully, your breasts weren't exposed to a district full of prostitutes and human traffickers.
Children's drawings were by a few doors, even taped onto them. They were what you'd expect a child would draw. Stick figures with weirdly strait hair, as well as triangles for dresses. One of the doors stood out to you in particular though. Two very familiar looking people were in front of it. One of them was a petite older woman, your grandmother. The other was your dad.
You didn't realize how much you looked like him. If anything, you and Charlie might've been female clones of him. It was so surreal. You felt a couple of tears stream down your cheeks. Sniffling a little, you wiped them away.
He looked nervous, sweat dripping down his forehead. It was a look you would be used to seeing on him. He always had it when dragging you from the balcony while it was nighttime. It was what he was holding that made you confused.
A flower was in his hands, but no ordinary flower. A spider lily. It looked like the one in Yurei's puzzle. A blue spider lily. That had to be impossible right? They were extinct. Gone. There's supposed to be nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero of them on this entire planet. How did one of them get here?
"Mom, I don't know if I should be the one to do this," your dad said.
Your grandmother placed her hands over his. "Sweetheart," she said. "She's your daughter. I know you want what's best for her."
Your dad glanced at the door, then back at his mother. "But what if her heart gives out right when I do it?" he asked. "Maybe this flower isn't magic at all?"
"I wouldn't lie about something like that. Not when my granddaughter's life is on the line."
A moment of silence passed through. You felt yourself trembling while looking into the blue spider lily.
Your grandmother sighed. "I know you're scared of what will happen," she said. "But I need you to trust me. She'll be okay when you say the command."
Hesitantly, your dad nodded.
"Oh, I almost forgot," your grandmother continued. "Please, let's never speak of this again. No one will know what happened."
"I promise ma," your dad said, a smile spread across his face. Your grandmother placed a small kiss on his forehead. Quickly, you grabbed your dad's arm, following him into the hospital room. You took one last glance at your grandmother. Her smiling face brought tears to your eyes. You wiped them away while holding back sobs. Who knew that her death still affected you so much?
The hospital room was small, only having a single incubator inside. The baby cased in it was sleeping soundly. But you had to pay more attention to your dad. You didn't remember Charlie having any heart problems. She was mostly at the doctor's for her hearing. But it might've been her and it left you because you were most likely babies and babies don't remember things.
Your dad stopped in front of the incubator, looking down at the blue spider lily. He sighed, and unhooked the hatchet. Looking at the clock, you noticed that it was normal visiting hours for the hospital. Yet it didn't seem like anyone was rushing around the building to find their sick and injured loved ones. It only gave you more evidence that this was a dream.
