The relationship between you and Tanjirou was normal now. You were less awkward when looking at the scar. This time, it meant something better. Your uncle was somewhere in this boy. He was watching over you, like your grandmother had said. They would both watch over you. She was close to death when she told you that. The chemotherapy wasn't working at all. The memory was hard to think about. Even years later.
You were woken up again by the sounds of swatters against Tanjirou. He had asked the three little girls to beat him whenever he lost his total concentration constant. This was because he was having trouble keeping his breaths steady. It seemed fine at first. A good beating would get anyone to remember anything. The downside was that you were woken up every time he went back to normal breathing. This would result in you barely getting any sleep during the night.
On the other hand, you were doing alright. It might've been because of your fear of revealing your secret though. When you trained with Kanao, she had touched your arm, and you almost floated out of embarrassment. The match was pretty close as well. It had made your total concentration constant go all over the place. After that moment, you had made a plan not to let go of that constant breathing.
There was also another thing that's been keeping you awake. Voices kept going around the room. They sounded like the ones on the mountain. At first, you thought you used the sixth form on accident, but that wasn't the case. Those ghosts were invading your mind again. You couldn't remember what it was. Traitor, brother, and Yukina, and prophecy, were the four you could remember. There was no explanation of how you would piece them together. Probably not a full sentence. You felt even more confused than any other time in your life.
You looked around the dark room. The little girls were holding sticks and were near Tanjirou's bed. The redhead was back to sleeping. His total concentration constant would likely be gone in a couple hours. Zenitsu seemed to have woken up as well. It made sense to you, with the sensitive hearing and all. His sparrow, Chuntaro, was also awake. He was perched by the window above you. Both you and your yellow haired friend gave tired looks to each other. They were also ones of understanding. The two of you were tired. The only difference was that Zenitsu would nap while you trained.
"I see, you've been doing total concentration constant," Kocho said. Currently, she was doing a checkup on you in her office. The stethoscope she was holding was placed on your chest. "Your heartbeat is getting closer to a normal pattern as well," the insect hashira added.
You flinched a little from the cold medical tool. 'So my theory was right. Well, a little,' you thought. You had never guessed the technique would help with your heartbeat. It was just your powers that, you thought, would work better. You were also sure Zenitsu was happy about your heartbeat. He could probably hear its progress over the past few weeks. Kocho looked like she had something on your mind. Her smile didn't show it, but her violet eyes did.
"What's up doc?" you asked.
"Doc?" Kocho tilted her head.
"It's short for doctor?"
"I see."
You waited for Kocho's answer. She had been silent for about a minute. You didn't peg her to tell you. If someone did that to you, you'd slap them. That was when the insect hashira cleared her throat.
"May I ask you a favor?" she asked.
"What?" you asked.
"Since there is little known about Lunar genetics, I would like to have a sample of your DNA."
