It's been a few weeks since the Slytherin team incident and ever since the Gryffindors have become cold towards you, not helping your already shameful mood. Mostly older students would throw you dirty looks and make comments about you. But at least your friends, the Weasley's, most of your year and most of the first years didn't seem to blame you.

However, everyone took notice that you became quieter and sadder. Avoiding the common room when possible.

Harry, Ron and Hermione did what they could to try and get you more involved.

"What do you think N/N?" Hermione asked.

You looked up from 'Controlling the Uncontrollable', a book Flitwick gave you on your last lesson. You were all sitting and breakfast in the Great Hall.

"Hmm?"

"About the deathday party?" She explained excitedly "I bet there aren't many living people who can say they've been to one of those, it'll be fascinating!"

Harry had just explained to you that Nearly Headless Nick, the Gryffindor House Ghost, had invited him for his deathday party and Harry agreed to go.

"Why would anyone want to celebrate the day they died?" said Ron, writing his potions essay over his bowl of cereal "Sounds dead depressing to me..."

Hermione rolled her eyes "Don't say that to him, it's insensitive."

You could barely believe that Halloween was approaching so soon, and it was honestly a big relief because it took everyone's attention off of you.

However, it was kind of a bummer that you had to go to the deathday party as this year's Halloween feast was supposed to be exceptional. The Great Hall had been decorated with the usual live bats, Hagrid's vast pumpkins had been carved into lanterns large enough for three men to sit in, and there were rumours that Dumbledore had booked a troupe of dancing skeletons for the entertainment.

It was a little disappointing but you didn't mind, you would make Nick happy, plus there was no way Draco would be there.

"A promise is a promise." Hermione reminded Harry as you passed the Great Hall entrance "You said you'd go to the deathday party."

You all made your way to the dungeons, the cheering and chatter disappearing more and more.

Nick's party was decorated with black candles, he waited at the entrance in black velvet robes.

"My dear friends," he said mournfully "Welcome, welcome... so pleased you could come..." He motioned them inside the chamber.

You all looked at each other, then a little unsurely you all entered.

The first thing you noticed – it was FREEZING inside the room. The little hairs on your back stood up and you had to pull your cloak to stop the blast of icy wind. The whole area had plenty of black candles, pearly white and translucent ghosts alike flew around the room, mostly the dance floor. The music, however, was less than pleasant, it was very scratchy and dropped violently from high to low pitches. The whole place smelled kind of like rose mist.
