The new restrictions were harsh. Harry and Ron weren't even able to visit Hermione and you only got to do it on your check ups while Madam Pomfrey got the equipment ready.

The atmosphere of the castle has never been gloomier, everyone thought Dumbledore's expulsion was a terrible idea. There was no laughter anymore and every face looked scared or paranoid looking around every corner nervously.

Teachers walked the classes from one classroom to the next and made sure no one leaves. Teachers even had to accompany students to the bathrooms. It was all quite inconvenient. A lot of the students did however feel safer with this measure in place.

None of you knew what on earth Dumbledore meant when he said 'I will only truly have left this school when none here are loyal to me... Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.'

But at the very least Hagrid clue about the spiders was clear.

Unfortunately, it suddenly became extremely hard to execute. It seemed not a single spider was left in Hogwarts, and due to the teachers constant monitoring there was no way to sneak around to look for them.

Seemed like all was lost.

Draco and some of his equally annoying Slytherin friends were however enjoying the atmosphere. At first you had no idea what he was so pleased about until you overheard him during potions.

"I always thought Father might be the one who got rid of Dumbledore. I told you he thinks Dumbledore's the worst headmaster the school's ever had. Maybe we'll get a decent headmaster now. Someone who won't want the chamber closed. McGonagall won't last long, she's only filling in..."

You tried to ignore his incoherent babbling. Snape crossed the tables looking into every cauldron at the Hair growth potions you were all brewing.

"Sir," Draco continued looking at Snape "Sir, why don't you apply for the headmaster's job?"

"Now, now, Malfoy," Snape said in a dismissive tone, but he couldn't help a smile appearing on his face "Professor Dumbledore has only been suspended by the governors. I daresay he'll be back with us soon enough."

"Yeah, right," Draco waved his hand "I expect you'd Father's vote, sir, if you wanted to apply for the job – I'll tell Father you're the best teacher here, sir!"

Ron did the biggest and laziest eyeroll imaginable and Seamus pretended to gag behind his cauldron. Snape moved forward back to his desk.

After Snape sat down Draco continued.

"I'm quite surprised the Mudbloods haven't all packed their bags by now, bet you five galleons the next one dies. Pity it wasn't Granger."

You gasped in shock at hearing this awful sentiment and Ron jumped off from his seat and reached for his wand in his pocket, but the bell had just rang. Harry and Dean held Ron back from attacking Draco.
