So after getting a note from Lockhart, they were all set to get the book from the forbidden section and sneak into the second-floor bathroom after lunch, which they ate very fast.

Once confirming that Myrtle wasn't in her stall, Hermione excitedly opened the book and found the page headed 'The Polyjuice Potion.'

"Here it is!" It was decorated with drawings of people halfway through transforming into other people.

"This is the most complicated potion I've ever seen," Hermione continued scanning the text "Lacewing flies, leeches, fluxweed, and knotgrass, well, they're easy enough, they're in the student storecupboard, we can help ourselves... Oooh, look! Powdered horn of a Bicorn... don't know where we're going to get that... shredded skin of a Boomslang, that'll be tricky too, and of course a bit of whoever we want to change into."

"Excuse me?" said Ron pulling a face of disgust "What d'you mean, a bit of whoever we're changing into? I'm drinking nothing with Crabbe's toenails in it-"

Hermione ignored him running her finger across the ingredients.

"We don't have to worry about that yet, though, because we add those bits last..."

Harry frowned "D'you realize how much we're going to have to steal, Hermione? Shredded skin of a boomslang, that's definitely not in the students' cupboard. What're we going to do, break into Snape's private stores? I don't know if this is a good idea..."

Hermione flared looking up at the guys.

"Well, if you two are going to chicken out, fine," she said. Her cheeks were pink and eyes burned with determination.

"I don't want to break rules, you know. Or lie to my best friend for the next-" She looked down at time estimate on the book "-Twenty-one days! I thought stopping whoever is threatening Muggle-borns is worth the trouble. But if you don't want to find out if it's Malfoy, I'll go straight to Madam Pince now and hand the book back in-"

"I never thought I'd see the day when you'd be persuading us to break rules," Ron interrupted impressed "All right, we'll do it. But not toenails, okay?"

"How long until we can start making in?" Harry asked.

"It will take a while to get those ingredients, it will probably take a month." Hermione calculated.

"A month?" said Ron "Malfoy could have attacked half the Muggleborns in the school by then!" He complained but the deadly look Hermione threw him forced him to quickly add "But it's the best plan we've got, so full steam ahead, I say."

Harry stepped back uncomfortably "And what do we tell Y/N? She'd notice if we keep disappearing somewhere. Can't we just tell her?"

They both looked to Hermione, who thought for a moment.

"Before we do anything," She closed the book "We have to make sure we can even make it in the first place, one of us will need to look through Snape's cupboard during next potions class."
