One day at Hogwarts made you happier than the whole summer at the Mansion. You liked everything about the school. Your dorm room, your friends, your teachers and your classes. You missed it all and you couldn't wait to get back into the school life.
The night before the twins and Lee Jordan threw a celebration for Harry and Ron to congratulate them on their spectacular arrival. For most Gryffindor's the cheery atmosphere was still going strong, including you. On your first day of classes, you arrive at breakfast in very high spirits giggling, laughing and chatting with everyone.
Harry, Ron and Hermione, however, were less than pleased. Ron and Harry were still gloomy about the detention they got and Hermione was mad at them for being irresponsible.
You sat down on Harry's left and got into a talk with Neville, Seamus and Dean.
"Mail's due any minute," Neville noticed "I think Gran's sending a few things I forgot."
Minutes later, hundreds of owls flew in dropping letters and packages to everyone. A big, lumpy package bounced off Neville's head and a pack of sweets from your mother landed gracefully next to your arm.
As you opened the packaged a big grey owl fell down from the air like a missile and landed in the milk jug next to Hermione. Milk and feathers spilling all around.
"Errol!" Ron said surprised, the pulled the creature out of the milk puddle by the legs. The owl was unconscious and laid tired on the table.
"Oh no!" Ron gasped.
"It's all right!" Hermione said poking Errol like her bookmark "he's still alive"
You chuckled "Thank goodness."
"It's not that." Ron said, his voice terrified "It's this!"
Ron picked up a red envelope from the table, and several students nearby tensed at the sight of it, including you.
"What's the matter?" said Harry.
You, Neville and Ron looked at the envelope like it was a very fragile bomb.
"She's - she's sent me a Howler." said Ron faintly.
You looked at the Howler with both fright and curiosity "Woah, I've never seen one in person before."
"You'd better open it, Ron." said Neville in a whisper "It'll be worse if you don't. My gran sent me one once, and I ignored it and-" he lowered his voice even more "It was horrible..."
Harry looked confused and Hermione interested. Harry never knew much about the magical world but Hermione no doubt read it in some book.
"What's a Howler?" he said.
"A very," you paused briefly "Aggressive, kind of letter."
Ron was paler than snow, the corners of the Howler start smoking dangerously.
