Professor McGonagall crowded everyone in a small empty chamber off of the hall.
"Welcome to Hogwarts, The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because while you are here, your house will be something like a family within Hogwarts , You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room."
She started to talk about the houses and how the one with the most points will get the house cup at the end of the year, and told everyone to get ready then she left, you turned to Harry on your right smiling.
"Nervous?"
"Yeah." he answered.
"Don't worry, my mother said the house sorting is an easy process." you replied smiling.
He seemed relieved by your answer.
Just then you heard a bunch of screams, turning around you found two pearly white ghosts just appearing through the wall, they were chatting to each other and the kids around you looked very frightened.
"New students!" one of them laughed turning his attention to everyone "Hope to see you in Hufflepuff, it's my old house, you know!"
"Move along now!" said a strict voice, it was Professor McGonagall who had come back now.
"Form a line!" She demanded.
Everyone became nervous, you were lined up in between Hermione and a very pretty girl with olive skin, behind her was a girl nearly identical probably her twin, you could see Draco lined up few people ahead and Harry and Ron not much farther than that.
Professor McGonagall lead everyone through the halls and then to a pair of double doors that opened up immediately, the hall was just as Narcissa told you it was a large hall with four long tables that thousands of students were sitting at and there was also another table at the very top of the hall possibly for staff with a throne-like chair in the centre of the table, thousands if not millions of candles where floating in mid-air and the ceiling....it was just amazing looking just like the beautiful starry night sky outside.
Hermione started to tell you how she read about it in some book that it is enchanted to look like the sky outside, although you already guessed that.
Everyone Watched as Professor McGonagall took out a stool and put a very old looking hat on, it was patched and very dirty, everyone seemed very confused, you were never directly told what the sorting was.
Suddenly the tear along the brim of the hat opened like a mouth and it started to sing;
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me.
