My mate? My what now?

"You got it,"  Felicia whispered.

Cedar, with a subtle scent of sandalwood. I wanted to smell it more.  Wait what? No, shut up, random stupid voice!

I never was weird in my opinion. I didn't have feelings or emotions, except when it came to my family. I was a serious Alpha. I needed to be because my pack was always wanted to be killed and wiped away.

How could I have a mate? I couldn't see him from up here. I needed to be closer.

"Hello? Alpha? ISLA?" Jen broke through my closed mind-link.

"Oh, um, sorry, what?"

"Focus! We need to carry out our plan. Mallory says in a couple of minutes they'll both be sitting, discussing plans. Their pack will be out. This is the time. Are you sure you're up for this?"

"Of course. I am." I looked behind me to her concerned face. "Let's do this."

Jennalyn crawled behind her to a more open area of the pipe and shifted back slowly and as quietly as she could. While I did the same, she took out the gun she had on her pack and handed it to me.

"I'll go down to the window while you shoot. Mal said that'd be faster than going back through the vent. We'll have to make a dash for it." Jen said, continuing to mind link me. Instead of whispering, it would be more silent.

I took a deep breath and cocked the gun in the pipe. The sound echoed, making the two men look up at us.

My brown eyes gleamed bright and I jumped down with Jen right behind me. She growled at the Delta and jumped on his back, considerably stronger than him as she was a position higher in pack law.

Seeing this out of my peripheral vision, I aimed at the extremely tall Alpha who leaped at me. With him right in the way of my gun and pressed the trigger making the bullet fly into his right shoulder.

He hissed in pain and I gasped when I saw his natural black eyes gleam yellow then fall down onto the floor before he could get me.

I quickly whipped around to see Jen struggling with the Delta. I put another bullet in as fast as I could, hoping I could get a clear shot without shooting my packmate. I bit my lip then aimed at the Delta, pressing the trigger, getting it right near his ankle, inches away from Jen.

"Oh thank goodness. That was so close." Jen whispered, wiping the sweat off her brow.

"Way too close." I agreed, sighing.

"I thought we could leave the Delta, but Alpha, I think we should bring him in for questioning too."

I nodded in response. Jennalyn's eyes glazed over. I knew she was mind-linking someone, most likely with Mallory.

"Alright, Mal said she's sending in a car at the brink of the forest. We have to carry these huge men over."

"I've got the Alpha," I said quickly, looking at the sleeping men. Daniel never said there was anesthesia in it too. But it's good for us.

I put the gun in the pack and swung it over the Alpha's back. I then put his arms over my shoulders and heaved him onto my back, gasping at his weight. It was most likely all muscle.

"Well, Sexy, let's get you to the pack," I muttered. Sexy? No, he was NOT sexy. Just, normal. Perfectly normal.

Both of us started walking out the door to the floor-length window. When we noticed no patrols, we started to run, well as much as we could, to the forest, seeing the black Sedan with Mallory in the passenger along with Olivia, another packmate, in the driver's seat.

"Seems like a load. In the trunk then." Mal nodded her head. We shoved the two hunks in the trunk as much as we could then plopped in the backseat.

"Even for an Alpha, that's way too much work." I breathed heavily as I rolled my head back.

"I mean, it's an Alpha and a Delta. Men too. They always seem to want to work out just to look good. What did you expect, Alpha Isla?" Mallory giggled as we gunned down the road, back to our cursed territory.
