"Are you actually serious?" I finally was able to ask after getting over my shock at what Mallory had just explained to us. Jen was still holding her cup mid-sip, starting at her friend. We were in my office because the Delta said she had to say something of complete urgency.

"It's true! The Moon Goddess spoke to me. It was completely real. There was fire, chains, burning trees...it was amazing." Mal said.

"It wasn't a dream?" Jen spoke, putting her mug of tea down after the silence.

"No. A vision."

"That's...incredible Mallory. You were able to be in contact with the Moon Goddess!" Jen, who was usually solemn became a bubbling mixture, running over to her and jumping up and down. "What was she like? Is she pretty? Did she speak about the pack!?"

"She's beautiful! Out of this world, gorgeous. Like how a goddess should be." Mal smiled as she started to chatter.

"Wha-guys! What about the chains?! Of all packs, the Moon Goddess contacted one of us in the Sunshine Pack. She needs help if she's taken hostage." I tried to take control of the situation. "We have to do something."

"Actually, what she told me was to wait," Mallory said, pulling away from Jen.

"Then-then why did she contact you?"

"I'm assuming it was basically to tell us to get ready. Something big is coming soon." She walked over to the whiteboard and started to draw circles around the board, then a big one in the middle. "We've been attacked by packs from all around the valley. The Dark Moon one was the last. I'm not sure if she means that the big thing is coming from that pack though. It could be coming from the outside."

"She's right." Jennalyn composed herself and looked at the board. "We've never been to the outside because we've been so busy defending ourselves. Well, except for you Alpha, for the national meetings. Did you meet any intimidating alphas from last year that seemed...I don't know, dangerous?"

"Um..." I scratched my neck, blushing a little. Last year's national pack meeting was sad, to say the least. No one wanted to talk to me because once again, I was the only female alpha. Even the mates of the alphas ignored me. "I was pretty intimidating myself so I didn't see anyone that disturbed me, really."

"That doesn't help us then..." Mal bit her lip and twirled the marker in her hand. "The Goddess also mentioned that, well, I was special."

Jen and I both looked at her quickly. "What?" We asked in unison.

"Yeah. She said I was extremely special and that I had gifts, despite being a Delta."

"Wait. What if she's going to help us? Say if something big is coming, maybe she is the key." Jen said.

I nodded. Though I wanted to help my pack by myself, I wanted it to be a group effort too. "Mallory, you're adopted by your father and mother, right? But you were adopted at one year old. Do you remember anything of your biological family?"

"No, not really. I lost most of my memory because I was found in the forest by my parents and they said I was bleeding a lot from my head." Mal ran a hand through her curls then pounded a fist against her hand. "I got it! I think I have an old paper from back then that I was holding onto when I was found. I didn't care about it that much. But maybe it could help us now?"

"We need you to get that paper as soon as possible. Anything helps. The sooner we find out your gifts, the better." All of us nodded and Mallory ran out and straight into Ryan and West who were standing in front of the door.
