Our ride was silent on the way to the Southern Pack. We didn't know what would happen. However, this was crucial to the future, past, and present lives of the werewolves. If things didn't go right...the Moon Goddess would be doomed to whoever had their hands on her.
"Which one of the packs are we choosing?" Mallory asked, looking out the window to the swooping hills and trees.
West looked at Ryan in the rearview window and shrugged. "I guess perhaps the Blood Rose Pack. It's the closest."
I shuddered. The name sounded vile already. I imagined a dark silhouette of a human crushing a rose, thorns and all, blood dripping down from his hands. The image wasn't going away, no matter how many times I tried to think about anything else.
Ariella who sat behind the passenger seat leaned closer and reassuringly squeezed my shoulder. "I promise, I won't let you down Alpha. But, I have to say, I'll only shoot if you're in deep trouble. I know this part of the woods and they will all be touchy-touchy."
West growled at that statement and grabbed my hand in his large, calloused one. Immediately he stopped the car. "We'll be right back." With that, he got out, opened my door and pulled me out, going further into the trees, away from the sight of the car.
"OOoo, what's he going to do? I'm so excited! Will he take us right here and now?" Felicia yipped. I shut her down, but I couldn't help the feeling. However, the others were in the car!
He pushed me against a tree, aggressively. My heart almost leaped out of my chest. I was thankful for my brown leather jacket, otherwise, my back would have been scraped by the rough wood.
"You may be a female Alpha but just remember, you are MINE." Every single male's cliche sentence. I already knew that.
West let his nose trail up the side of my neck, leaving little kisses that made me want to stay here with him forever. I frowned at him, knowing exactly what he was doing. This stupid teasing Alpha.
The mate bond was bubbling over by the second and the feeling grew stronger. We had only been this close a handful of times but this time I couldn't take it anymore. When he left my neck, I could see his dark brown eyes turning black.
I breathed heavily when he took his hands off my arms. He smirked, leaving me all hot and bothered, and turned around to leave.
I growled. He couldn't just do that! I grabbed West's black leather-clad wrist and pulled him to me, crushing my lips against his. I could see his shocked eyes for a split second and then he wrapped his arms around me.
My back was set against the tree again, but I didn't even care about the darn wood. All I cared about was him and me at this moment. West growled low in his throat for possessiveness but I wanted dominance. When we came up for breath, we were both gasping, our eyes definitely a lusted black now.
"You--are crazy, Miss Alpha."
"Crazy for you," I repeated his phrase from before, smirking. I walked past him, purposely bumping into him and walked back to the car."That woman..." He shook his head, following.
The others were sitting on the hood of the car when we came back. Mallory was the first to see us and smirked.
"Ready to go?" She whispered as I opened the car door and everyone filed in. "By the way, your hair is messed up." I instantly reached up and smoothed down the messy auburn strands, praying that no one would notice. Actually, I think everyone did notice from their smiles.
We started down the road again to our last target, the Blood Rose Pack.
~~~~~~
We were only five minutes away from the pack. I wondered if I was even ready for this, but West's determined eyes set on the road was telling me enough. Ryan and I could pull this off. We decided we would pretend to be mates. Mallory didn't seem keen on the idea since her relationship with him was getting even closer.
"Are you ready, Isla?" Ryan asked from behind. I looked in the rear-view mirror and nodded.
We stopped right next to a flowing creek, the silence giving the woods an eerie feeling. I hoped that everything would go according to plan.
"Let's go." I hopped out of the car, hugging my mate tightly in case anything ever happened to us. I was about to let go but he pulled me closer. "Shhh. Let them have their moment."
Around his waist, I glanced at Mallory and the Delta. "I know we may not be mates, but I feel this strong connection to you.." Ryan said to her.
"I know. But you aren't my mate. If I do find him...we can't be together." She said, tears rolling down her cheeks.
He leaned down and brushed them away, kissing the top of her head and hugged her. "Please, I'm begging you, don't let anything happen to you," Mallory said, then walked over to me. "I trust in you, Alpha. I believe in you to bring yourself and Ryan back safely. You're the only Isla I'll ever know." She whispered, embracing me.
Suddenly, this all felt very real. Fear started to course through me. What if I couldn't do this? I was supposed to help Mal bring victory. I started to cry, not knowing why persuading a perverted Alpha would make me feel this way.
"I-I'm starting to feel something!" I fanned myself, sobbing. "I don't want this war to happen, I love you all, why is this happening?"
Mallory laughed and hugged me tighter. "Isla, this is called emotions. I know you haven't felt this way since you were little. We will save the Moon Goddess and we will save our packs. Now go! I believe in you."
