In the evening, West appeared at the doorstep. "I didn't know where you wanted me. I was confused if you wanted me at the pack house or in your cabin so I just decided to ask you."

I studied him for a moment then sighed. "You can be here with me. Take your own room back."

His eyes flickered down to my hand, where my knuckles still bled from where I punched the mirror at the South pack. I didn't care at that moment and only now it stung just a bit, but I got that all the time from training.

"Come." Mr. Alpha grabbed my arm and pulled me to the kitchen counter. As he rummaged around in the cabinets for the first-aid kit, I looked at him intensely. During my anger escapade to help Mila, he did not once go against me or question my actions. This made me even more curious about my mate.

He pulled out the white box and took out the cream-colored bandage and slowly took my hand in his. West started to skillfully wrap it around my knuckles, being careful as to not hurt me. "Why?" I asked, breaking the silence.

My mate looked at me, not understanding me. "Why what?"

"I don't understand you, this! How come you're being so nice after what you saw me do. I was rude to your Delta, I imprisoned you two...honestly, I don't even understand why your pack hasn't come to attack us yet."

"I ordered them not to."

"You--what?" I blinked, unable to comprehend his answer.

"When you took us and I found out that you were my mate, I told them not to. They'll be fine with my Beta for a while." He continued to wrap my hand. "It was alright if you were rude to Ryan. He needs a good talking to once in a while." West chuckled, then his face grew stern. "As for getting angry...I don't like what you did. Hurting yourself. However, I understand why you did. I love that about you."

My face heated up. He just told me that he loved me, yet not in a direct saying. "Why?" I pushed further.

"Your motivation to do absolutely anything for your family members. It's amazing. You only show a glimmer of weakness when they're in danger. Your generosity as well. You let Ryan go instead of making him stay back. Your love for Mallory as well. When she was sick, you stayed by her side. Also your laugh...Goddess, your laugh...it makes me go weak, Isla. You're absolutely, wonderfully, beautiful. I love everything about you and I am most grateful that the Moon Goddess gave me to you." West looked at me intensely, completely truthful.

My heart soared and tears came to my eyes. No one had ever said those pure words to me. I needed to say something, yet I couldn't. My throat choked up and I smiled at him, unable to speak.

The door suddenly flew open making us snap our gaze away from one another. Ryan and Ariella were there, panting. West quickly walked to them as I snapped the pin closed to secure the bandage.

"What happened?"

"It's close. The right side of the valley is extremely dark in broad daylight. The east side has already evacuated. Alpha Isla, I think they're all going to meet up here." Ariel said.

I bit my lip. "Okay, go tell Olivia to set up more tents all around the pack house. I'll mind-link everyone that they will be sharing rooms. What has the South decided?"

She cast her eyes downward and glanced at Ryan. "They...refused, no matter how many packs we went to." He answered. I felt terrible. The south pack members will suffer because of their stupid Alphas' decisions. Now was not the time to feel sad now.

"Ryan, please alert Olivia to gather all the pack warriors and state about the north and eastern packs coming now. West, will you help the pack house mother prepare?"

"As always." He bowed smiling and walked out with the rest.

"Pack meeting, asap." I mind-linked Jennalyn and Mallory.

"Roger that," Mal answered.

"Yes, Alpha," Jen responded.

They broke off immediately; I assumed they had heard about the evacuations. I was still wondering how I should react to my Beta. Yes, Mila had gotten better but she should have reported it to me as soon as they went to the doctor. Any other Beta would have been exiled as a rogue or maybe even killed. Jenna though was special, she knew her stuff.

I sighed when a final decision decided to come to my head. The girls came into the office in a matter of ten minutes. They all sat down and we started the meeting.

"So, I was thinking north pack would be on the left side of the packhouse. The east would be on the right. We can have fifty tents on each side." I said, shuffling some papers in my hand.

Mallory nodded. "The Dark has overcome the east side already. It'll continue, drowning out the north and south until finally us. I say we meet it at the clearing, near Okamhine bridge. There'll be enough space for every pack to attack and fight...whatever it is."

"Any special formations on the field?" Jenna asked.

We both looked at her and I glanced at Mal. "She will be at the far back. I just have this notion that she should be there instead of right in the front."

"Alright, then I'll inform Olivia of this now. I think she's clearing out the training field for more pack warriors."

I sighed at all this war business. Things were going to get real messy. "Then we're done. Go to your orders. Oh, and pups and elderly who can't fight will be at the end of our territory, near the Forestine House. Make sure you round them up right now."

As Mallory left, I tapped Jennalyn on the shoulder. She turned to look at me, her black eyes full of sadness. I knew that what she did was purely for helping the pack but it had to be done.

"I'm sorry, but what you did was unacceptable. Your punishment won't be as severe as you think, but I'm going back in history because it can be done. I'm demoting you to Delta and Mallory to Beta. This will only be for three months. You'll regain your position afterward. Hold both of my hands."

She did so and I grabbed hers too. "I already informed Mallory of what was to happen. I'm switching a drop of your blood with hers in this special bottle I found that was used before." I pricked her hand and poured the drop into the vial. I took Mal's blood and spilled it on the cut.

"With this, I, Isla Starr, am demoting you, Jennalyn Akiyama, from Beta to Delta for only three months." I bark-howled, only a rare thing that was happening when a deal was set. She winced, showing that it worked.

"I deserve it. I am truly sorry, Alpha Isla."

"I know you are." I hugged her tightly. "You are still a sister to me."

Okay, West when describing Isla is just so <3

Do you think Jennalyn deserved her demotion?
