A few hours in, West yelled, "FIFTEEN MORE MINUTES!" Ryan and Mallory shot up from their sleeping state and Ariel just blinked.
I covered my ears and glared at him. "What the heck was that for?"
"I just wanted to wake them up."
"You're so crazy," I muttered, nudging him.
"Crazy for you, babe." With that, I blushed and looked away.
"Stop the car, W." Ariella grabbed her bow and arrow bag from the floor. "I'll follow from the top now." He stopped the engine and she jumped out, climbing a tree, branch to branch, then disappeared into the top.
Mallory closed her door and asked, "Why does she want to stay in the trees?"
West started the car and drove down the bumpy path. "Well, first of all, she's a vampire. If she were with us, they would immediately attack, no questions asked. Secondly, she's absolutely amazing with shooting her arrows, so in case anything ...bad happens, she'll help from up."
After a while he parked the car to the side. "Alright guys, let's get out. I say we don't shift and stay in our human form to show we're not here to harm them. Anyone agree?" I asked, unbuckling.
Everyone chimed yes in unison and soon we trekked through the forest, butterflies in our stomachs, hoping this would end as we hoped.
Suddenly a different scent surrounded us and a gun was held to my head. Everyone got into their attack position and West growled loudly.
"Wait, wait...." I calmed everyone, hoping that they wouldn't be as tense.
"You're the Alpha from that Sunbright pack." The warrior growled.
I nodded my head slowly, not missing the cold metal that could blow my head to bits and that would be the lovely ending of Isla Starr.
Ryan sighed. "The Moon Goddess really should've given you a name that wolves don't mess up all the time. But come on, man, she's the Alpha of the Sunshine pack."
"I'm here to speak with your Alpha. In a pleasant situation. It's only us." I said, not able to look at the guy who was threatening me.
"What about the Alpha from the Darkmoon Pack?"
"As I said, we're here to speak with your Alpha. I promise it's extremely urgent. You'll understand."
The warrior looked at the group who looked determined then sighed. He pushed me in front of him and we walked towards the house. The MoonStone pack was pretty big and had enough territory for two packs. Each wolf's house was basically a condo.
As we were walking, wolves noticed us and started to growl when they realized who we were.
"Dang short-stuff, what did ya'll do to them?" Ryan whispered behind me to Mallory.
She nervously chuckled and moved closer to him away from their death glares. "Let's just say, they weren't very happy when we were finished with them when they attacked us..."
The guard led on a winding stone path which led to the huge structure, or otherwise, the Alpha's lair. The mansion loomed proudly behind steel gates, rows of oak trees on either side. They swayed gently side to side in the summer wind. In the middle was a marble fountain, water bubbling from the continuous splash.
He put his fingerprint in the latch on the gate and the doors flew open towards us. "Move." He grunted.
"Sheesh, we're not freaking prisoners. Is this what it takes to get a meeting with any Alpha here?" West said, as he walked along the walkway.
"One more word and I'll put a bullet in your pretty little girlfriend's head."
I quickly put a hand on West's arm to calm his temper down. It was true though that my blood was boiling as well. How dare this inferior wolf talk to any Alpha this way, even if it wasn't his own pack's.
The huge white doors opened to an extravagant interior as well as exterior. The white linoleum floor glistened, as if they had been cleaned many times. The red velvet walls were extremely high, decorated with poses of gorgeous women. Typical of the Alpha. Stairs were in front of us, twisting and turning until it disappeared into the ceiling.
"Well, if it isn't the pretty little female that has graced us with her presence again. Oh! This time she isn't threatening me with her ancient spears!" A low voice resounded throughout the house.
I rolled my eyes and put a hand on my hip. "Well, if it isn't the wonderful player that tried to hook up with me."
A tall, broad-shouldered man walked down the stairs into our view. Crystal blue eyes were somewhat covered with a mop of blonde hair. If this was any other girl, they would have swooned on the spot. Too bad I'm not any other girl.
"Isla." He stated, flatly.
"Lance." I shot back.
Lance folded his arms and glanced behind me. "I see you brought an army. Come to attack our pack again?"
"Hey, I only did it because you were going to battle us anyway unless I didn't sleep with you."
West's jaw dropped. Mallory stepped in and nodded. "And if you want to fight with her, you'll have to fight with us too."
"Oh, little Mal-Mal. You didn't seem to mind our five minutes with each other." He smirked and flicked a blond curl of hers. Ryan's jaw dropped.
I shook my head before the boys interfered. "Look Lance, I didn't come to fight with you. On the other hand, I came to discuss something with you."
Lance raised his eyebrows. "Now that's something I thought I wouldn't hear before."
I smiled. "So, you'll actually listen to us?"
"Since you wouldn't ask for a normal meeting, I assume it might be something actually worth listening to."
"Great. This might be something you might want to sit down for."
