His Miss Alpha • BOOK I

Chapter XXI

"Chase! Mila! I swear to the Goddess, you better get back here!" Jenna yelled, running to catch up with the two kids, who were giggling as they ran around the cabin.

Daniel knocked on the door which opened to an extremely tired Beta. "Yo. You seem to have things handled here." He held four bags of Chick-Fil-A to her.

"You are a dream!" She hugged him tightly. Many people considered them not a good pair together. She was known as gorgeous and powerful. Daniel though was the extreme opposite. He had ruffled brown hair, thick black glasses, and a lanky self. However, to them and their friends, they were more than perfect. Though it did not seem like it, he was incredibly smart and was the sweetest person that completed her.

The kids devoured the meal and played with the toys that were in the bags. It gave the couple enough time to hang out.

"How was your day, hun?" He asked, playing with her long braid.

"Stressful. I would rather be in the hardest battle than taking care of the two midgets. I was demoted to babysitter status instead." She turned to look at them, rolling on the floor. "However, I can see why the Alpha loves them to death. I can see why people want kids."

When she turned back, her mate was looking at her with wide eyes. "A-are you saying...y-you?"

Now Jenna was the one with shocked eyes. "N-no! I-I don't...I mean...of course, maybe someday--b-but not..."

"Oh, y-yeah not with the war and everything..."

"Yeah..so much drama.." They both blushed furiously, unable to even think of such a concept. Yes, they had completed the mating process, but they didn't go that far.

"Aunty Jen! Aunty Jen! Mila fell asleep!" The boy shouted, jerking them away from their dazed faze. Mila was on the floor, breathing heavily, her doll still in her hand.

Jennalyn rushed over to pick up the child, hoping in fact that she was just exhausted. However, she was just ice cold, gasping for air. "Daniel, she fainted! We have to get her to the doctor asap."

"My car is just outside. Chase, get a blanket. We just want to take your sister for a check-up that's all."

After they were all packed in the car, he raced over to the small doctor's home. Bella Scott was the only one in the pack with medical experience, except for her mother who was too old to do much around. Jenna rushed in and Daniel stayed in the car with Chase to calm him down.

"Beta Jen? What's wrong?" Bella walked out from behind the curtain in her doctor's uniform. She had her brown hair tied up in a ponytail as she looked at Mila with concern. "The Alpha's sister?"

"Yes. For some reason, she fainted after lunch. She's ice cold and she's barely able to breathe." Jenna said, frantically.

Bella nodded after gathering the information and patted the table to lay the little girl down. After listening to her chest with her stethoscope, her eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Mom! I need the ventilator in here, now! Get the children's mask."

Mrs. Scott hurried in from behind the curtain with a large machine and placed the mask over Mila's face, steam blowing out from the holes.

"What's going on? Is she okay??" Jenna asked, her hands over her mouth in shock as everything went from zero to a hundred extremely quick.

Bella put her hand on her back and led her to the small, empty waiting room. "Beta Jennalyn, we need to keep her here for who knows how long. I know this isn't an asthma attack and she hasn't had a history of any heart problems. This doesn't just happen to some healthy child. What did you have for lunch?"

"Um, just Chick-Fil-A..." Jen said, sitting down.

"What did you do with the bags?"

"I think they are still on the table, with the other things."

The doctor tapped her chin in thought. "I need to take a blood test to be absolutely sure, but who knows, it could be food poisoning...but she hasn't thrown up. But, instead of the food aspect..."

Jen's mouth opened in shock. "Poison? But how? Daniel got it from the human town out of the forest. It's completely local."

"You know how packs want us dead. Could this be an attempt to get back at us? Maybe they thought Alpha Isla was here so they switched out the normal batter with something mixed inside this."

"Oh, dear Goddess...." Jenna couldn't process the information she had just heard. Bella sat next to her and bit her lip.

"Alpha Isla needs to know. You need to contact her." The Beta gripped the doctor's wrist tightly.

"No, she can't! The fate of the valley's packs is at stake! Right now I am Mila's family and I am supposed to be taking care of her. Daniel will figure out who laced the poison into the food. For now, if anything changes with her, you will contact me. Your job right now is on the line if I hear that you contacted Isla. Got it?

Bella slowly pulled her hand away, completely calm. She had dealt with aggressive patients before and Jennalyn was no different. "Of course, Beta. Mila will be placed in the pups' ICU and I will update you if anything happens."

"Did you hack into their security cameras?" Jenna asked, looking at the computer Daniel was working on.

He nodded, focusing on the incoming customers and employees. "I'm going to see if I can go back to the time when I was in and who handed me the bag. It must be a wolf."

"And I'm going to kill that son of a gun when when he tried to cross with someone of the Sunshine Pack. Especially an innocent little pup!" She said, her eyes turning yellow before going back.

Daniel pressed the spacebar hard. "There! That's our man. You can see his eyes are a bright yellow before they become normal."

Jenna chuckled. "Nice job, babe." She kissed his cheek and threw her jacket on. "I've got an interrogation to go to."

Hi! So this was a pretty short chapter but trust me, I would never, ever, call this a filler chapter. Every chapter should always be considered part of the story, never filler!
