"Sup." The girl's fangs glinted in the sun rays that were peeking through the branches."My name's Ariella. Just call me Ariel."

"You're a vampire," I spoke slowly.

She laughed then shrugged. "I mean, yeah, obviously."

I struggled, even more, trying to escape West's grip on my arms. "She's our enemy, West!! We're supposed to kill her!!"

"Don't worry Miss Alpha, she's an old friend of mine. Ariel helped out the pack when my father was the Alpha."

Ariella smiled. "How is Mr. Hunter anyway? It's been a while."

"He's getting along. Thanks for asking."

I was still in shock at how this vampire and werewolf, my mate, was having an actual nice conversation.

"Look W, I didn't just come to find you for a catch-up. There was a reason." Ariel said, her face hardening a bit, making her eyes glow.

He chuckled. "There's always a reason why you show up. Let's go back to the pack. Oh right, forgot to introduce you. This is Alpha Isla, leader of the Sunshine Pack."

"The Sunshine Pack?" The vampire whistled under her breath. "I've heard some gnarly things about that pack--" West glared at her. "--which I won't talk about since we're going there. I'll follow from above. Lead the way Alpha Isla."

~~~~~
"And this is my house," I said, pointing at the cabin.
"You have a really nice place here. I thought it'd be more dark and gray." Ariella commented, her hood back up.
She had explained that since werewolves and vampires were extreme enemies, she tended to keep her face hidden. I learned just from our short walk from the forest back to the path that she stayed away from her own kind and wanted to be allied with the werewolves. That's how she met West, helping his pack from a vampire attack.
"Right? I thought the same when I was kidna--, I mean when I decided to visit here." West had had an arm slung over Ariel for a long time and Felicia and I were not liking it.
"This female is basically staking her claim on what's ours!" Felicia growled, pacing in my mind.
"I know, I knew it when she first was introduced as a vampire. Now she's basically begging me to hurt her." I responded.
"So, why don't we discuss what you came here for in my office?" I smiled sweetly.
Ariel grinned. "Oh, sure!"
We opened the door to the meeting room and she swiftly sat down in my chair. I growled slightly but sat down across from her while West sat beside me.
"So, have you known about a war that might be raging upon this valley?" She asked, getting right to business.
"Yes, I heard about it recently. I'm preparing to have my warriors extensively trained and also along with our regular members of the pack. That's all I need to do, right?"
"Wrong. You are clearly underestimating the power that is in the enemy. I've been around from place to place but I've seen that the pack Alphas are fearing things more. I've been to the outside, multiple times."
I blinked. Rarely anyone went outside the valley. It was extremely hard to go even just for a national meeting. You had to go through so many obstacles, even just for a single person. How did she do it?
"Okay...do you know who the enemy is?"
"This is something that even the outside packs are wondering what to do. I have a sense but it's not any normal mythical creature that we know of. This could be the end of our nation, heck, maybe even the world. You can't do this by yourself."
My heart pounded with fear. "What do we do?"
"I've been observing your pack for a while, not creepily of course." She laughed. "You and your pack have taken down every enemy pack that has come your way. You're incredibly amazing, Alpha Isla. You need to band together at this time. I'm sure the other alphas will be willing at this time."
I bit my lip and looked at West. Should I trust this Ariella vampire?
West smiled at me and nodded. "She's been around for so many years. I trust her as much as I trust you."
Was that a no then? "Alright, fine. You'll come with us. Let's see how many Alphas agree."
~~~~~

"You would think an Alpha would have more rooms in her house right? I'm sorry you have to get the couch." I nervously laughed as I spread the blanket on the futon.

Truth be told, I did have two more rooms, but I was still skeptical of her and refused to have a she-vampire near the kids...or West.

"That's totally fine. Softest couch I've ever slept on. So, W is your mate, right?"

I paused on fluffing the pillows then glanced at her. "How did you know?" I asked, resuming.

"I mean, the connection is pretty obvious. Also, he told me." Ariel jumped onto the couch and stretched her arms.

Honestly, does West tell her everything?

"Oh. So what's the nickname? It sounds interesting." I sat next to her.

Her scent was barely existing, just as all vampires smelled. They were capable of running fast so all you saw was a blur and you couldn't tell who they were because there was only a faint scent.

"It was a thing when we were younger. I called him W and he called me Red." She chuckled softly at the memory.

I wish I could relate. I mean, I had a nickname for him, well to be more precise, it was more of an I-dislike-you name but I understood why we weren't that close.

It was me. I kept pushing him away.

"You're darn right it's you. I think you have a serious problem Isla. You put your priorities before your love." Felicia decided to butt her wonderful voice in. That was sarcastic, by the way.

"He also told me of your siblings. I think he said they were Mila and Chase right?" The stupid Alpha told her that too? I need to kill him later.

"Uh, yeah."

"And he told me of your liking for Nutella." Seriously, how much did West tell her?

"Also, about how you had two extra rooms but since you're a werewolf you placed me down here at the couch.

"Yea--wait, what?"

Ariella chuckled. "I'm just kidding, he didn't tell me that. I already knew it already. Look, I get it, I'm hated by all of your kind and I'm used to it. But, you gotta trust me on this Alpha Isla, just for this time, you need to believe me that I know what I'm doing. I've got your back and after this whole thing you can forget about me."

I was so embarrassed. This vampire was something else.

"Listen, I also won't steal him if that's what you're thinking. You both are soulmates and I can tell by the connection between you two that he loves you. Oh, and I also have my own mate." She blushed and her scarlet eyes lit up. "I'll get him. Just like you'll get W."

"Y-you have your own mate?" I stuttered.

"Yup. He hasn't noticed me yet because I've been so far away." She sighed and picked at the quilt. "Once the war is over, and I'm still alive, maybe Kain will actually want me. Who knows though, right?"

I nodded and looked at the dark TV in front of me. "Right. Who knows."

"Anyway," she yawned and turned to her other side, "I would suggest showing W that you want him too instead of pushing him away. You might not have your chance before it's too late. Night Alpha Isla."

"Oh, um, goodnight." I got up and walked up the stairs to my room. Tomorrow we would go out to ask the packs to join us. The vampire was right. I at least have my mate right across the room from me while she didn't. Instead, she was helping us. Maybe on the journey, I would take my chance.
