His Miss Alpha • BOOK I

Chapter XXVIII

Lance's pack was in the front, howling their attack march. I looked up to a dark figure slowly coming out of the shadow of the trees.

It was a man. Yet, not an ordinary man. He was completely black, his hair wild. Behind him were panthers, growling and tearing the dirt with their claws. My heartbeat sped up at the sight of these cats. Panthers were not ordinary large cats when they encountered supernatural beings. Once they appear, they possess extreme powers as well, especially in fighting. We had absolutely no idea about them coming.

'Alpha, the light shines on.' Jenna's voice came into my mind.

'The light shines on.' Olivia responded. Suddenly my brain was filled with all of my pack members whispering the same beloved mantra that was told by our ancestors in battle. It kept me warm and knowing they were all by my side.

'The pack is our light. We must keep it burning bright.' Felicia said. 'We won't let us be their ball of yarn.'

Our army ran forward, howling and yipping as the man urged his forward. I looked back at Mallory who stood near the trees, closing her eyes. I could faintly see her whispering something. My glare turned towards the Dark who kept yelling at his panthers to run. Endless cats came coming. It's as if they were just regenerating.

I gasped. 'They are!'  Felicia growled. 'He's strong. Magic.'

'We have to get to him first, otherwise, our army is doomed.'  Felicia ran to West who was taking down one of the enemies. Since we were incapable of mind-linking she turned to the Dark and back at him. He seemed to get the message and ran in front of us, clearing a path.

I grabbed a panther's neck with my jaws and closed it shut, shaking him like he was my plaything. As I threw him to the side, I noticed that as the multitude grew more, we were getting closer to the edge of the trees, which meant we were getting closer to the leader.

A panther suddenly lept on me as West ran, not noticing what was happening. She growled in my face, her horrible bloody breath staying with me. I struggled to get off her as she pinned me to the ground, her weight almost crushing me.

"Move, Jayla." A deep voice that gave me goosebumps spoke. The cat reluctantly got off, sadly not being able to kill a leader. Yeah, sis, I won't die that easily, I thought, standing up. I looked up to see the one who started the whole thing, my eyes widening. Even from the front, he was just one color, black. The man was absolutely hideous. "Shift."

I glared at him, not moving from my standing position. "Unless you want half of your pups tortured and killed with no mercy?"

No! I immediately shifted Felicia, growling that she had to be in submission of a male no less. We were so tired of this. "Hm, an alright body. No wonder the Alpha of the Darkmoon Pack was searching..." He muttered, circling me. I growled, but curious about what he was going to say.

"Now, now, let's see. Now that half of your packs are slaughtered, I suggest we just end this. How about a one-on-one duel. If you win, my lovely cats and I will leave. If I win...well then..." He chuckled darkly. "You will be my slaves for the rest of eternity while watching your 'lovely' Goddess, tortured, every single day."

"So, if we win, you will let the Goddess go? That's it? You had to kill half the valley just to do some little duel?" I answered, angrily.

The Dark smiled. "Oh no, darling. I'm just completing the prophecy." Prophecy? West never mentioned this.

I took a deep breath. "Alright. Let's stop the fighting. Give us two hours to discuss who we will be giving to fight."

He laughed. "I give one."

Okay, so this chapter was pretty short (okay, really really short) but hey, EARLY UPDATE! Who wouldn't take that? The war is starting!!
