Summery: Gregory Edgeworth had lost his one and only son to the most devastating nightmare of his life. See what happens if Manfred Von Karma decided to hurt Gregory in the worst way possible as revenge instead of taking his life during DL-6.

What if Miles Edgeworth died during DL-6 AU

It happened so fast and Gregory's worst nightmare had come true. His memories of that nightmare would repeat again and again in his head. Him, the bailiff and his one and only son were stuck in the elevator. A large earthquake caused the elevator to shake enormously, the box they were trapped inside eventually snapped from the cords holding them up before they came crashing down. Of course, no one got hurt and they were not that high up from the floor, but the rubble had cut off air circulation that was supposed to keep them alive in the elevator while the power was out. Gregory and the bailiff were able to pull the first set of doors open, but not the second that would lead outside. Unless the electricity returned, chances of escape were almost zero to non.

After about five hours, the bailiff started acting crazy from lack of oxygen, then began attacking him. Gregory could hear his son shouting at the man to stop attacking his father. That was when he heard a gunshot and everything turned to black. He could barely make out his little boy taking the bailiff's gun, then throwing it at him before the gun went off. Gregory heard a scream from a man, a man he knew too well and had fought against in court on the very same day.

When he woke up, Gregory found himself in a hospital bed with the worst News he could possibly imagine. Miles Edgeworth, his son, was shot and killed from a bullet to the heart from the bailiff's gun. Gregory was certain he was going to turn insane from this News. It couldn't be true! It just couldn't be! It was too much for the older man to bare.

Of course, Gregory was asked to testify about the events. Him and the bailiff were suspects of the boy's murder, but Gregory was certain it was a third party. He remembered that scream all too well and had seen the picture of his dead son. He even made it his mission to defend the bailiff in court, if he was accused. Who would do something like this!? Who would take his one and only child away!? Gregory knew who it was. That third party, the prosecutor he faced in court, Manfred Von Karma.

Unfortunately, the death of Miles Edgeworth was placed under Accidental Suicide. It was like that testimony and the evidence of the misfire didn't matter.

"You can't be serious. My son was murdered. The evidence shows that two gunshots were fired that day and Mr. Yogi and I testified of hearing the scream of a man after the first gunshot. They match up. This should be looked into!" Gregory argued with the detective.

"Listen sir, I understand you lost your son, but you cannot ignore the facts. Your son fired the gun, as shown by the fingerprints on the gun, and the gunshot took his life. This was the only conclusion we could come with. Even with the testimony of the possible two gunfires, there wasn't a second bullet found anywhere. It doesn't match with your testimonies like your son firing the gun."

"Are you saying that the gunshot in the door just fired through there, then flew back into my son's heart. That's ludicrous!"

"Mr. Edgeworth!" Gregory heard his name being called by another detective he knew well, Detective Badd. He came forward, then looked at the head detective of the case. "Excuse us." He led Gregory away to talk to him privately.
