"Come on Clementine," calls Violet as she watches her girlfriend stand in a trance as she admires the scenery and extravagant architecture of the dominating Chicago skyline.
The brunette spins on her heels, the glowing sunset light catching in her eyes as she once more faces Violet. A broad smile lifts her cheeks as she catches up to her girlfriend and intertwines her fingers between Violet's.
"It's beautiful here when the sun starts to set," she mutters, leaning closer to Violet as she whispers the sentence to the blonde.
"It is isn't it," says Violet in agreement as she pauses on the cobbled street to admire the same cityscape that had captured Clementine's attention. The orange light ebbs over the towers and buildings that map out the city, creating a wave of shadows that draw shapes along the bustling streets, carving out the definition of the metropolis.
"And it's so warm too," states Clementine as she breathes in the late summer air.
Violet smiles at the brunette, looking deeply into her warm amber eyes as she observes the sun still rolling low in the sky. "Well it's only August 1st," she states, "hopefully there's still a lot more warm weather to see this year."
"We can hope," says Clementine in reply. "So where to next?" she questions as she watches the fading sky ombré from a subtle orange hue to a deep red tint.
"It's up to you really," says Violet, "we can go sightseeing, we can get some food, or we can carry on walking. See where this road leads and reminisce about the good old days."
"The good old days?" jokes Clementine with a smile as she watches Violet intently. "It's only been three years."
Violet smirks as she thinks through her response, "well, then hopefully we've still got a lot more memories to make."
Clementine halts in her steps and lifts her hands to Violet's arms, resting her fingers on the fabric of her loose-fitting T-shirt as she admires her girlfriend's soft expression. "I'm glad you're here with me now," she says as she leans forward and presses a simple kiss against Violet's mouth. The blonde smiles into the kiss, absentmindedly skimming her thumb across her girlfriend's cheek as the two pull apart.
"I'm glad you're here as well," replies Violet as she continues to walk down the street, Clementine's arm looped through her own.
"Hey," says Clementine, "this may seem random but it ties in with your plans to reminisce about our relationship."
"I'm listening," says Violet with a grin.
Clementine inhales deeply and leans against Violet's shoulder, a smile breaks on her face and she chuckles to herself as she recalls the distant memory. Violet looks at her with a raised eyebrow, clearly anticipating the telling of the story.
"Do you remember that disastrous game of War we played with Louis before we started dating?" says Clementine with a smile as she braces herself against the wind that bellows through the city.
"Ah yes, I remember now," says Violet with a grin, "now then," she adds, looking into the distance as she thinks. "What exactly did I ask you again?" Violet hums to herself while she taps her fingers against Clementine's arm. "Oh yes," she exclaims as she grins, "it was how come you seem to have a death wish?"
Clementine raises one eyebrow as she scoffs at Violet.
"Oh come on Clem, you were pretty reckless when we first met. Remember when you got blackout drunk and we had to lie to AJ about it? We told him you were 'tired' because we'd played a bunch of games."
"Uh that wasn't my fault," retorts the brunette with a chuckle, "that water bottle was pure vodka and I had no idea."
"You sure knew about it in the morning," says Violet with a small smile.
