There's a letter waiting for Clementine on the kitchen table when she comes downstairs that morning.

The cursive black ink which spells out her name in bold lettering catches Clementine's attention as she goes to make a coffee. The brunette saunters over to the letter, picking it up with her delicate fingers and turning it over, knowing that Violet often leaves little messages on the back of envelopes.

Read this letter, my love, I've gone to fetch coffee and pastries. I won't be long, happy anniversary x

Clementine smiles and tucks a strand of loose hair behind her ear, she beams at the note and the thoughtful nature of her girlfriend. She uses the letter opener that sits on the table to slice through the top of the paper allowing her to reach inside and pull out the contents within.

She unfolds the handwritten note and smiles as she indulges in the content. She feels her heart flutter as she reads Violet's sweet words and memories of their time together. After reading it twice, she folds the letter and places it back inside the envelope, just as a reminder to take it upstairs and stash it with the other letters Violet has sent her over the past six years they've been together.

It's a touching sentiment and one that Clementine will never get tired of. Violet writes letters for every occasion, every birthday, every Christmas and each major event. She writes letters for all of her friends but pours a special amount of effort and love into the ones for her girlfriend.

There's a knock on the kitchen window and Clementine smiles to see Violet rapping her knuckles against the glass. Snow is falling gently from the sky and it settles on the beanie that's pulled over her girlfriend's blonde hair. Clementine sees that Violet's hands are filled with two steaming coffee's and a paper bag filled with croissants and other pastries. Sensing that Violet may need a hand, she walks over to the front door and lets her girlfriend into the house, quickly closing the door behind her to prevent the cold wind billowing into the kitchen.

"Hey love," says Violet as she presses her lips against Clementine's cheek. Clementine shivers but still embraces her girlfriend as she greets her.

"Happy anniversary," Clementine says softly, turning her cheek and capturing Violet's lips.

"Happy anniversary to you too," replies Violet.

"Thanks for getting us breakfast," Clementine adds with a smile.

"No problem," Violet replies as she places the items on the table. Once everything is set out, she slings her arms over Clementine's shoulders and smiles softly at her girlfriend.

"Hey," says Clementine, "I know the weather's shit, but I wondered if you wanted to head up to the woods, take that trail to the spot where we had our first date."

"And where had our first kiss," says Violet as she raises one eyebrow and sways slightly in the arms of her lover.

"Exactly," says Clementine, she struggles to contain her smile. "I know it's snowing... but maybe it'll be romantic."

Violet pauses for a while before a smile grows on her face, "yeah... yeah, actually that'll be perfect."

Clementine pulls away and turns her attention back to the hot coffee and warm pastries. "Can we have breakfast first?" she questions, aware of her stomach rumbling and sleep weighing heavy on her eyelids.

"Of course," says Violet as she pulls out a seat for her girlfriend and presses a simple kiss on the top of Clementine's head. The brunette looks up and smiles, feeling content and indescribably happy.

"Did you read my letter?" asks Violet as she walks hand in hand with Clementine through the trail that passes by the woods, it's the same area where they began their relationship all those years ago. Snow falls gently from the sky in thick clumps, and individual snowflakes land on their clothes and skin, settling there for mere moments before melting away. Violet looks to Clementine and the way her rosy cheeks glow in the cold weather, and she thinks about how lucky she is to have such a beautiful girlfriend.
