"Colby? What are we going to do after high school?" Asked Sam, cuddling against his boyfriend.
"What do you mean?" Colby said, shifting his position to where he was leaning on his elbow so he could face Sam as they lay on the flowery grass of the meadow.
"I mean we'll be going to different schools." Sam answered, looking at Colby as he tried to hold back his tears.
"Okay? So what's the problem?" Colby asked, knowing where their conversation was heading.
The lump in Sam's throat seemed to grow bigger as he let out a sigh, moving to look at Colby.
"I'll be here in Kansas and you'll be all the way in Los Angeles." Sam let the salty tears fall, sliding slowly down his cheeks.
"Well, we'll just have to cross that bright when we get to it." Answered Colby.
"I love you, Colbs."
"Love you too, Sam."
"Forever?" Asked Sam, holding out his pinky.
"Forever." Colby wrapped his pinky around Sam's as they made their promise.
•Time skip•
"I will always love you, Colbs." Mumbled Sam as he stared at a picture of him and the love of his life.
"If only you were still here. Then we wouldn't be like this." Sam's said, as his voice cracked while he cried for the third time today.
He laid his head down on the pillow as he slowly fell asleep on his bed, laying out his pinky down.
"Forever."
