"Rai," Kameron's knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel and spoke through gritted teeth.
"Is everything okay, baby?" he had asked as he held me tightly and I would have laughed at him still having the guts to call me baby, if I wasn't so scared.
"Can we get in your car," I practically begged him as he pulled back to look me in the eye. He cupped my cheek and nodded with worry trembling through him. Once we were in the car I couldn't seem to get the words out, so instead I just shoved the pictures in his face.
"Someone," I stammered looking for how to explain them. "Someone keeps sending those, I- I don't know who it is, but someone is watching- watching me. I think they are trying to scare me." He sat in silence as he swiped between the two pictures. I watched the hairs on his neck rise as I spoke and I instantly regretted telling him. I shouldn't have involved him, I shouldn't have involve anyone. Who knows what these people would do to those I care about.
"Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe it's nothing."
I quickly grabbed the phone from him as I spoke. He let me before he took a hold of the steering wheel, his body was tense as he stared forward. I continued to ramble about how it was probably nothing, a prank even.
"Rai," he cut me off through gritted teeth. He let out a breath, "who else have you told?"
"Nobody," I was becoming more and more scared by Kam's tone. He was clearly on edge. If I had hoped he would help calm my nerves, boy was I wrong. He looked as if he were going to throw up. "I didn't want to involve anyone or make anyone worry, everyone already has so much on their mind," of course by everyone I meant Eli. "But-"
"Don't," he finally looked over at me. "Don't tell anyone. If they are willing to go to your house, and then follow you to campus, they are willing to risk everything," he sighed and shook his head. "I don't like this, I don't like this at all. We need to get you out of here. Away from all of this," something in me told me he had a deeper meaning behind his words.
"I can't, I have to- I have class and i have to go to Jonny's fight," a panic started to consume me as I thought about being the person to ruin what Jonny has worked so hard for. "Kam, you can't tell anyone," his head whipped around to face me and his blue eyes were wide with a look of hysteria. "Please," I begged. "I can't ruin Jonny's night," I reached for his arm, trying to get him to understand that I needed him to keep this a secret for me. "Please."
I watched him internally struggle. His jaw clenched as he stared at me battling what he thought was right, and what I was asking of him.
"We can figure it out tomorrow," I said when I knew he was on the verge of giving in. "Just do this for me, just keep it a secret for one night."
He sighed as he pushed one of his hands through his blonde hair in frustration. He let out a small grunt of anger before giving in. "Rai if anything happens to you-"
"Nothing will," selfishly cutting him off. I knew it was wrong to put him in this position, especially him of all people. I knew I could trust him, and I also knew he would do this for me, whether I wanted to admit it or not. "I know you won't let anything happen, and neither will Jonny or anybody else," I reassured him before he let out a heavy breath and I knew I had won.
I sat back in my seat and laid my head back on the chair finally, for the first time all day I felt like I could breath. My head was pounding, but for a moment I felt like I could relax. My eye lids involuntarily closed.
"What were you doing here?" I asked Kam. It finally dawned on me that he doesn't go to school here, why was he even here? I looked over at him, but he didn't look at me. He was staring out at something in the distance.
