Taehyung huffed as he stepped inside his house. He complained enough to Jungkook to convince him to go on a date later that evening, so he had no choice but to deal with his parents for awhile, particularly his father.

"Oh Taehyung! I thought you weren't going to be back until later." Mrs. Kim smiled as she hugged her son. "I was just about to go put this note on your bed."

"A note? What about?" He stepped forward and grabbed the piece of paper out of his mother's hand to read it. "Wait...you and dad are leaving? What's so urgent that you couldn't wait for me to come home and then tell me?"

"Look Tae, there's a really important family matter that your dad and I have to tend to." Mrs. Kim smiled sadly. "You have to stay here."

"What? Why? If it's family, then I should come too," Taehyung protested, but his mother only shook her head.

"Honey, you have to stay here and focus on school. Not to mention your heats still aren't on a strict schedule. You've got to stay around Jungkook just in case." She reached out and placed a gentle hand on Taehyung's cheek. "We don't know how long it'll take, but we'll be home before too long. Okay?"

Taehyung moved forward into his mother's arms and hugged her tightly. "Okay...where am I supposed to stay?"

"Well..." Mrs. Kim pulled away from the hug slightly to look at her son, a slight hint of mischief showing in her eyes and voice. "Your father wants you to stay at Jimin's, but I think it'll be just fine if you stay over at Jungkook's. It'll be our little secret."

Taehyung's eyes lit up and he hugged him mom again, even tighter this time. "Thank you! I promise I'll behave and I'll be sure I don't miss any school!"

"Haha alright. That's enough. Why don't you go upstairs and pack a bag for about a week. If it ends up being longer than that, you can just stop by and pick up some more, alright? Make sure to pack warm clothes. It's supposed to snow later this week." Mrs. Kim pulled away and sent her son upstairs with a nod. She was going to miss him while they were away.

Taehyung smiled as he ran out of his house, bag in hand. He stopped when he saw Jungkook standing next to an unfamiliar car. "Who's vehicle did you steal this time?" He chuckled and continued walking, sharing a kiss with his boyfriend before putting his bag in the back seat.

"I didn't steal it. I bought it." Jungkook smirked and patted the hood. "This baby is aaaaall mine. I don't need to borrow cars or get rides anymore."

Taehyung gaped. "What!? How did you afford it? It looks brand new!"

"Working late nights with extra pay for what....two, three months makes a bank account happy." Jungkook chuckled and opened the door for his boyfriend. "Come on. Let's go get some dinner."

Taehyung happily got in the car and buckled up. He was excited since they hadn't gone on a date since Jungkook had gotten his job. He missed having the extra time with him.

They went to a pretty nice restaurant. It wasn't extremely classy or expensive, but it was a quiet place that had good food and was actually built to seat people rather than give them food through a window.

"Hmmm...what do I want..." Taehyung looked through the menu, not sure what he was hungry for. "Why don't you just pick? I'm okay with anything as long as it doesn't have mushrooms!"

Jungkook chuckled and nodded. "Alright. I guess I'll pick."

Taehyung smiled and set his menu to the side. He wasn't really all that picky so he would surely enjoy whatever his boyfriend ordered for him. "I'm going to use the restroom really quickly. I'll be right back."

Jungkook nodded and called a waitress over to order. He had decided it would be best for them to come early since he wanted a quiet dinner with Taehyung and the restaurant would surely be getting a rush in an hour or so.

By the time Taehyung had returned, the food was already being brought out. "Woah, was I gone for that long?"

"You were in the bathroom for a while, but there are only a few people here, so the food came out quickly." Jungkook smiled at his boyfriend and motioned for him to eat, digging into his own meal right after. They ate quietly for a few minutes, then Jungkook spoke up and broke the comfortable silence.

"So, how did it go with your parents earlier? Did you talk to your dad?"

Taehyung paused for a few seconds before clearing his throat. "Mmmm this was really good. I don't think I can eat any more. Let's get the check." He turned to look at a waiter and called out to them, asking if they could pay for their meal.

"Tae...you didn't talk to them did you?" Jungkook wore a disappointed expression. The one condition for this date was that Taehyung would talk with his parents and get things sorted out between them.

"It's not my fault! They had to leave for some family emergency. I didn't have any time!" Taehyung pouted and slumped in his chair. "Besides, it's not like it would've made a difference either way. Mom's the only one that would listen...."

"Taehyung, you can't say that if you never give your father the chance to hear you out. You need to talk with him and not only give your perspective, but also listen to his." Jungkook sighed and grabbed the check once the waiter put it down only to have it snatched away by the 16 year old across from him.

"I'll pay." Taehyung pulled out his wallet and payed with cash. Once he'd given it to the waiter, he stood up and grabbed his coat, leaving the restaurant and getting into the car quietly. He buckled himself up and waited.

Jungkook followed, getting into his car with an exasperated sigh. "Look Tae, I'm just trying to help."

"Do you even know what it is that you're trying to help with? Yes, I don't get along with my dad anymore. I've told you why. Ever since you came into the pack, he's been trying to control my life. He barely even lets me go to Jimin's place anymore because he thinks I'll sneak out with you and get pregnant or something. I've tried talking to him, but he won't fucking listen! You know all of this. I've talked to you about it thinking you would understand where I'm coming from, but all you do is tell me to try talking to him again, or see it from his perspective." Taehyung huffed in frustration, turning to face the window and murmuring a quick,"What does any of this have to do with you anyway...".

Jungkook put his hands on the wheel and held it tightly. "Tae, I know that it seems like I don't understand your frustration or I agree with your dad, but that's not true. I just don't want you to have a bad relationship with your parents. They're precious and I want you to be able to spend as much quality time with them as possible. I don't want you to think of them as a bad part of your life." He reached over and placed a hand on Taehyung's thigh. "Look at me please."

Taehyung shifted his gaze down to his lap before he looked up at his boyfriend. He looked away from the sad eyes that met his own quickly. He didn't like to see that. "I'm sorry...I didn't think of how you don't have your parents anymore. I was being selfish. I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I'm just worried for you. Promise me that you'll talk with them when they get back. Otherwise I can't take you on the rest of this date." Jungkook changed his expression to a mischievous one.

"What?" Taehyung looked up at him again. "You planned something else?"

"Of course I did. I'm not so boring to promise a date and only bring you to a restaurant like this." The alpha stuck out his pinky. "But you have to promise to talk with your parents when they get back."

Taehyung hurriedly linked his finger with his mate's, nodding with a determined expression. "I promise! Now what is it that you have planned?"

Jungkook ruffled the omega's hair and smiled. "It's a surprise. I'm sure you'll love it though." He turned on the car and started driving off toward their destination.
