Jungkook sighed as he looked at his new schedule. He remembered just how much he hated school. All the complicated subjects that he had to pass in order to finish his final year of school stressed him out. "They couldn't give me a little break? Physics and Calculus? The fuck? I didn't even sign up for these classes...." He groaned and stuffed the paper with his schedule into his pocket. He was walking down a random sidewalk in the middle of town, looking around and getting familiar with the area. "Damn I need a job too."

The alpha sighed and walked into the nearest convenience store to see if they had any job openings since he would need some way to get a bit of spending money. They didn't, so he moved on to the next store, and the next, and the next one after that. The town wasn't exactly very big, so there weren't that many places where he could easily get a job. The only ones he could think of were already full on staff. 

"I guess I'll just have to look later then. Maybe I can get Tae to help me out." Jungkook sighed and started heading back to the pack's community with a very tired expression.

Once he arrived, he couldn't help but notice the excited atmosphere that buzzed around. Any wolf that was out and about was talking excitedly about something with a friend. He would've found out what was going on, but he was too tired to care. He just wanted to sleep some more, but his wish was denied as he reached his home. Tension filled the air as soon as he walked in. His entire pack, along with a few of Taehyung's friends, his parents, and the head alpha all filled the living room. And now they were all looking at him. He looked at the group in confusion, scanning over every face to find a certain omega that he could smell, but he was nowhere in sight. "What's going on? Where's Taehyung?"

"He's in your room. Before you go see him, we need to talk." Jin stepped forward from where he had been leaning against a wall, too stressed to sit down. "It's about Mr. Jung's son."

Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows. "What? What does that have to do with me?" He wandered into the living room, taking a seat that one of the others offered up to him.

"Well...." The Head alpha started explaining. "Hoseok is a Moon Alpha, and he's coming back in a few days."

Jungkook looked around at everyone before returning his gaze to the leader of his new pack. "I'm not following...I mean, that's really surprising and all. It's cool that he's a Moon Alpha and everything, but I still don't get why you're all here being gloomy like this. What's it got to do with me and Tae?"

With a huff, Namjoon stood up and crossed his arms. "Stop being so dense Jungkook. Taehyung was supposed to mate with Mr. Jung's son. The Moon Wolf."

Jungkook took a second to process what his previous leader had just said. "Wait-....that means..." His eyes widened with realization and he shot up onto his feet, sprinting up the stairs and to his room as fast as he could. He burst into the door and immediately halted as he saw Taehyung curled into a ball. He was clutching a pillow tightly, his faced buried deep in the soft material. It was hard to notice, but the omega was shaking ever so slightly.

Jungkook gently closed the door and walked over to his mate. "Taehyung?" He sat down on the bed and reached out to put his hand on Taehyung's knee, grimacing when he felt the omega flinch at the touch. "Hey....I'm here for you okay? I'll protect you."

Taehyung moved his face out of the pillow and looked up at Jungkook. His eyes were filled to the brim with tears and it only took a split second for him to break down and release them all. It took even less time for Jungkook to wrap him up in a warm embrace, letting his mate release everything onto his shirt and soak it in tears. They just sat there for a few minutes — Taehyung bawling his eyes out fearfully while Jungkook held him and soothingly rubbed his back.

Taehyung eventually calmed down and slumped into Jungkook's chest. He didn't have any energy left after everything that had happened in such a short time span. "I'm-...." He paused to get his words together, voice shaky from crying so much. "I'm sca-scared...."

"Don't be...." Jungkook kissed the top of the omega's head. "I'll protect you. I won't let him hurt you. I promise."

Taehyung shakily pushed himself up, sniffling harshly as he did so. He shook his head and wiped his eyes. "No...you ca-can't....he's a-a Moo-oon Alpha. You'd be killed to-oo."

"What do you mean 'too'? That guy's not gonna lay a finger on you. I'm sure I won't be the only one defending you if he does decide to be a bitch about his mate. He has no right to harm you just because of something some old lady said." Jungkook ran his fingers through Taehyung's soft hair, trying to soothe him.

"But the Tra-tradition says that-"

"Fuck the tradition. All that began back when people couldn't fucking think logically. If he follows that damn rule, then he's one of them. Yeah?"

Taehyung smiled a bit and nodded. "Hoseok isn't like that. He's nice from what I can remember. He's been at this really far away boarding school for alphas. It's supposed to teach them how to lead properly or something. He hasn't been back in years, but I'm sure he's still really nice. Maybe he'll go easy and just give me a few lashings instead of...." He gulped, hating the thought of what could happen in the worst possible scenario.

"He's not going to give you any punishment. I'll take it myself if I have to. You don't deserve any of that shit." Jungkook sighed, then smiled. "Are you hungry? I could ask Jin to make up something quick for you."

Taehyung shook his head and leaned back into Jungkook. "No...I just wanna sleep. I'm tired." He whined quietly moving his head up so that it was resting in the crook of his mate's neck. The scent he found most calming flooded his thoughts and he was fast asleep before he could even hear a response.

Jungkook chuckled at his mate's cute behavior, but soon found himself frowning. He couldn't help being stressed about the situation. He hadn't even settled in to his new home and was already being threatened with the loss of his mate that he had literally found a week ago. He was supposed to be strong and unyielding as an alpha, and he was going to do his absolute best to be those things. He just was unsure of whether or not he could succeed.
