"So you're sure that you saw him wearing their symbol?"

"Yes, sir. It was on his necklace. I'm not sure how the others missed it." Jungkook licked his lips nervously and looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry I acted on my own. It was just my immediate reaction. I should've controlled myself better."

"No no, don't worry about it. I understand where you're coming from. Thank you for taking care of the others. For now, I'll send you all back to school. I want you to distance yourself from that boy, though. It would be dangerous for any of you kids to get involved with him since your emotions could cloud your judgement as we've already seen. We'll handle this as quickly as possible, so just endure it for a bit." Mr. Jung placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze to reassure him. "I need to discuss this with members of the council. For now, I want you to call me right away if anything happens. Be careful, okay?"

The young alpha nodded "Of course. Please keep me updated as well." He stood from his seat on the bed and led the pack leader out of his room, the place they'd chosen to get some privacy from the rest of the house's residents. He walked Mr. Jung out of the building, bowing politely as he left.

"So, are you going to tell us what's going on now?" Jin stood in the living room with his arms crossed over his chest, clearly anxious but trying to hide it.

"Yeah..." Jungkook found a seat on the couch and plopped down into it. "Where's Taehyung? Did he leave?"

"No, he fell asleep in our room. He looked pretty tired, so I just let him rest," Kyungsoo spoke up, clutching hi mate's hand tightly as he waited for Jungkook to tell them what was going on.

Everyone from his old pack was gathered there, praying that their worst nightmare wasn't coming true. It made Jungkook nervous and stressed, but he knew he had to tell them. "The kid that I saw-"

"Beat up," Yugyeom interjected.

"Right, the kid I beat up.." he took a small pause before continuing, "was wearing the symbol of the church on a necklace."

A sound of distress came from Jin and he immediately turned to Namjoon, hiding in the man's broad chest. "No no no...not again. Oh god, what are we gonna do..."

The atmosphere went from anxious to panicked. Yugyeom turned a sickly, pale colour, and several others began to shake in both fear and anger.

"Look guys, this time is different. We know they're close, and we can get ready just in case. I mean, we don't even know if they've found out we're here yet," Jungkook said, trying to reassure everyone.

"They probably know now that you attacked the guy and then evacuated all the wolves from the school. Smart move dumbass." BamBam stood from his seat and angrily walked off to his bedroom, leaving behind even more tension than what was already in the room.

Silence lingered for a bit before Namjoon finally spoke up, "You didn't do anything wrong, Jungkook. He's just shaken up. Anyone else would've done the same in your situation, so don't worry too much."

"Yeah, well I'm not anyone else. I'm supposed to protect you guys and make smart decisions to keep everyone safe. Bam's right. I shouldn't have let my emotions get the best of me. I'm sorry," Jungkook stood from his seat and gave each of his friends a quick glance. "I think I'll go check on Taehyung."

There were a few mumbles of protest at Jungkook's words, but the others decided to save the reassurance lecture for later and let him leave.

"I guess I'll go talk to Bam then-"

"No, I'll go." Yugyeom stood from his seat, cutting Namjoon's words off abruptly. He nervously rushed off to the room he shared with BamBam, opening the door and accidentally closing it a bit too loudly.

In the far corner of the room, the beta was huddled into a protective ball, hiding his head in his arms and rocking back and forth ever so slightly. He flinched at Yugyeom's loud entrance, halting all movement and holding himself tighter.

"Bam....They won't hurt us again." Yugyeom walked over to his friend and sat next to him, pulling him into a hug. "I'm not going to let them take away our family like last time. Plus, we've got a fuckin' moon alpha on our side now. You should've seen the way Jungkook was thrown by that guy." He chuckled lightly, trying to get BamBam to relax a bit. "He looked like a rag doll."

The beta laughed quietly and gave his friend a small smile. "Yeah....we'll be prepared this time." He relaxed his head into Yugyeom's chest, taking a deep breath and releasing it with a tremble. "Promise you won't leave me."

Yugyeom held BamBam tighter and closed his eyes. "I promise. I'll never leave you alone. You'd spend too much money if I did."

"Oh shut up. I don't spend that much. Besides, a lot of what I buy is for you."

Yugyeom scoffed jokingly. "You only 'buy things for me' because you want an excuse to get things for yourself. You little thief, stealing all my food and presents."

They both chuckled softly and then sat in the silence that had grown into a comfortable and warm atmosphere. They were both still scared, but a reassurance had settled into their chests, loosening some of the anxious tension. They sat quietly together for a few long minutes, letting their trust in each other and everyone else return to what it was before the terrifying news, then they stood and went back out to be with their tragically constructed family.

Taehyung was now awake and sitting with the others in the living room. The pale look on his face as he stared at Jungkook showed he'd just been told the truth about the fight his boyfriend had gotten in. It was oddly quiet in the living room as everyone just sat there looking down at the floor or at a random scuff on a wall. Namjoon was the only one to acknowledge Yugyeom and BamBam's presence, but even then he merely nodded to them and went back to his focus on Jin.

"It's okay..."

Taehyung's voice shattered the heavy silence. The surprising sturdiness and surety of his tone shocked everyone, causing all their gazes to shoot to him.

"You won't have to go through something tragic again. You're part of our pack now, and we won't let them hurt our family. You don't need to be scared because you're not alone." Taehyung smiled at everyone in the room. He was worried, that fact showed clearly enough in his eyes, but he also knew that everyone around him would be absolutely terrified and they needed reassurance rather than another person freaking out. He wanted to help them understand that they didn't need to be so scared anymore.

"Aweeee I'm gonna cry! That was so sweet kiddo!" Chanyeol, one of the beats that had actually found another place to live spoke up, moving to the young omega to give him a tight hug. He didn't squeeze for very long since someone else came in for a hug as well.

"Thank you Taehyung. You're right. We've got a new family and new friends that we can count on. There's no need to be so scared." Namjoon smiled, glad the mood had lightened up at least a bit.
