"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!" Jin, along with everyone else in the house, smiled happily as they congratulated Taehyung for surviving a full 17 years."Thank you!!!" The omega chuckled sheepishly, sitting down to enjoy his birthday breakfast that had been lovingly prepared for him. "This is good!"
"If you think that's good, just wait 'til your party later today."
Taehyung stopped eating and looked at Jin with wide eyes. "We're still holding the party? But we don't know what's going to happen. What if the hunters attack? Should we really be doing something like that?"
"Don't worry too much, kiddo. If we panic now, we won't be stable enough to handle it if something actually does happen. We should still be cautious and aware of what's going on, but we can't tense up. Celebrating your birthday will help us all stay calm," Kyungsoo spoke from across the table, giving his wise words in a soothing voice.
Taehyung nodded his head in understanding. "That makes sense. We shouldn't have as many people over, though. Gathering in too large of a group isn't a good idea right now."
"Stop worrying about it so much." Jungkook placed a hand on the concerned omega's thigh, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "It's your birthday; let's celebrate it."
Taehyung was clearly stressed by the situation, but he agreed anyway. If it would help everyone stay calm, he would gladly celebrate the occasion with them. He took a deep breath and calmed his nerves, diving back into his wonderful breakfast.
The day continued on as they had planned several days ago. Decorations were placed and a table full of food was prepared. A playlist full of Taehyung's favorite songs sent tune after tune through a speaker that had been set up in the living room.
Those that were healthy in the group were periodically absent for roughly 2 hours at a time. Someone else from the pack would come say hello, wish Taehyung a happy birthday, and then whisper to someone there before dragging them away to take over a border patrol shift. This happened to Jungkook almost right after they had finished breakfast, but 4 hours passed by without a word from him rather than the usual 1 to 2.
"Is Kook not coming back again?" Taehyung rushed over to Yugyeom who had just come back from his shift.
"I'm back. Don't worry." Jungkook walked in through the front door behind the other alpha. Snow covered his hair and shoulders, and the bite of the freezing outdoor atmosphere clung to his body, tickling Taehyung's nose. "I forgot to grab a coat; I'll head back out once I warm up a bit."
"You've been out there for twice as long as you should've been already!" Taehyung rushed to his boyfriend and grabbed his reddened hands. "You're freezing, you dumbass!"
"That's why I came back. I need some hot tea and a warm hug." Jungkook smiled and shook the snow on his head off, brushing down his body next. "You guys left me some snacks, right?"
"I don't think we could've eaten them all ourselves even if we wanted to." The omega walked back into the house, leading the others to the food. He put together a plate for Jungkook and hurried to grab him a warm cup of tea. "Here. Take a seat and relax for a bit."
"Thank you. You should come sit down too. We can both relax a little." Jungkook smacked the seat next to him a few times, smiling up at his boyfriend.
"I don't need to relax, though. It's not like I'm being forced to stand in the cold for hours on end." Taehyung grabbed a cookie and sat down, pouting a bit. "Why can't I help? I know I can't shift, but I still know how to defend myself. I even know all the signals...So what if I'm an omega?"
