"So...can I ask you something?"Taehyung looked up from his shoelaces and nodded at Takuya's question. "Yeah, what's on your mind?"
Takuya looked nervous and a bit worried. He hesitated to speak, gnawing on his lip as he contemplated something. "Did you and your friend get in a fight because of me?"
Taehyung's eyes widened. "Huh? We had a little disagreement, but what gives you the idea it was your fault?"
"Well...you never came back after what happened at lunch yesterday. I was worried I did something." Takuya frowned and slipped on his gym shoes.
"No need to worry about that. It's something between me and Jungkook. It's got nothing to do with you." Finishing with his laces, Taehyung stood up and stretched his arms. "Speaking of yesterday, I'm really sorry about him. He's a paranoid asshole, and he shouldn't have treated you like that. I talked to him, so he won't act stupid anymore."
"No! It's really okay. I understand how he feels...kinda. If I saw someone who looked really similar to somebody in my past, I'd be angry too."
"You have someone like that-"
"Hey!!" The gym teacher barged into the locker room with an angry look on his face. "Get your scrawny asses out here so we can start class!"
Taehyung rolled his eyes and sighed. "I don't know how he keeps his job after talking to the students like that. Guess we better go."
They both hurried to get out to the gym and jumped into the crowd of other teenagers there, listening to the end of the Teacher's instructions.
"-five laps around the court then take an quick break. It's snowing outside, so we're going to play some basketball. I'm dividing the teams up, so don't even think of being on the same team as your friends." Everyone in the class groaned and muttered backhanded insults. "Oh shut up and get running!"
There was a collective "yes sir," and then everyone started to lazily jog around the perimeter of the basketball court.
"You think we'll be on the same team?" Takuya asked as they both easily took to the front of the running group.
"Nah, Mr. Choi has this thing about people being able to fend for themselves. He always says that you can't grown if you stay where you're comfortable, so he puts kids exactly where they don't want to be. It used to be a lot worse, but he's lightened up a bit ever since a kid had a panic attack last year."
"Oh my...I can see why that happened." Takuya was quiet for a bit. He seemed to be thinking pretty deeply about the situation.
"Don't worry too much. He won't let anyone be bullied. He may be an ass, but he still cares about the students. Let's just have some fun playing today. I bet my team will beat yours." Taehyung nudged his new friend and smiled.
"Haha, we'll just have to see about that. I'll beat you before you even have the chance." Takuya took off in a sprint, aiming to finish his laps first.
"I don't think so!" Taehyung ran after him quickly. He caught up easily, putting his slightly heightened athletic abilities to use. Surprisingly, Takuya managed to go even faster, staying just ahead throughout the rest of their laps. Once they finished, Taehyung could only stare at the transfer kid in both amazement and confusion. "You sure you're human? How the hell did you run so fast?"
Takuya merely chuckled and shrugged. "I've always been more agile than others."
"Agility doesn't explain your super speed. What kind of food do they feed you in Japan?" They both laughed a little and grabbed a quick drink of water while the others finished up.
