I was so mad about the fact I had to go to work on a Saturday mostly since the weather was extremely hot today... it was obvious the sun was also as mad as I was. I wasn't planning on spending anything extra on transport so I made my way to the bus stop to board a bus to the island. I got there and sadly there was no bus around... I checked my time and it was already past ten. I knew I was gonna be late but honestly I didn't care.

The first bus came after about ten minutes of standing under the hot sun, I dashed towards it with speed but all my struggling was to no avail as I was overpowered by the men there desperately looking for a vehicle to enter. They didn't even care if I was a lady—- yeye men.

*Ring-Ring*
Ah who could be calling? I thought to myself as I held my bag tightly to my chest. This was surulere and I knew how the boys here could be especially if it was a lady.

"No be your phone be that madame?" A guy said pointing at my bag. I looked at him in disgust as if I didn't know it was my phone.
It stopped ringing finally and then the next bus came. This time I had prepared myself for the rush and so I dashed towards it immediately it came to a holt. The men were probably shocked at the way I could overpower them and found a seat at the front beside the driver. Lucky! I thought to myself. I reached for my bag and brought out my phone to check who had been calling... it was Jeremy as expected.

**
"Where have you been? I've called you like a million times." He said throwing his hands up in the air. He could be dramatic at times.
"Once." I said to myself before he started over exaggerating things.
We got settled in and began looking over the documents. He wanted it to be in perfect order which was really exhausting since most of the numbers there weren't accurate so I had to recalculate them and arrange them.

"All done!" I said finally as I closed the last file and rested on the chair letting out a loud sigh.

"That was faster than anticipated." He said looking at me in disbelief but scanned through them himself.
Time had flew, it was nearly past two and I had not eaten breakfast. "Phew well I'm starving... I want to go grab a bite outside" I said as he looked at me in disgust.
"And where outside would that be?" He asked arranging the folders into his drawer.
"There's a great bukka just across where they sell bread and ewo agoyin." Beans was one of my favorite foods but it seemed like I was talking gibberish to Jerry as he looked lost and disgusted. "No wonder your brain is as small as a bean." He insulted and this I wasn't going to let slide.
"Who? Me? You're the one who doesn't even understand sarcasm. Ode." I said and he immediately pounced on me. He gave me a knock on my head with his fist and it hurt a lot!
"Ouch!" I yelled out wincing in pain but he just laughed and walked away.
"Jerk!" I yelled aloud before covering my mouth. In as much as I was mad at him, he was still my boss and I wasn't about to get fired before my first paycheck—- God forbid! After all the money and stress I've spent on transportation.

"Better follow me if you plan to eat as a human being." He said as I hissed at him before getting up to follow him. There was something about him that just made me so mad.

We got to a restaurant where he ordered food for both of us which we ate. It was totally different from my date with Alex who was funny and charming. Jerry was just a blob who was just lucky to be rich.

"So are you and Alex now dating?" He asked which brought me back from my little trance. Why was he interested? So he could mock me a lot more?
"That's my business." I fired at him as he laughed slamming his fist on the table in the process.

"See, I've known Alex for a long time... let me just advise you, he's just playing around with ya. That dude's heart is worse than mine."

I couldn't seat down and watch him insult Alex. I may not fully trust Alex yet, but he was far better than Jerry in a million ways. "Not everyone is a rich, obnoxious, and dumb kid who's father wealth is the reason for his fortunes." I couldn't  believe I had just said that... I could tell it affected him a lot because he dropped his spoon, made use of the napkin and got up to leave.

"I'm sorry. I d— he didn't let me finish before walking away. Omg my mouth has gotten me into trouble this time around. What was I going to do? I panicked and decided to call Alex.

He came to pick me up at the restaurant and drove me home.

"What exactly did you say to him?" Alex asked as he reduced the volume of the speakers.
"I indirectly called him a rich, obnoxious kid who's father is the source of his wealth."
Alex scratched his forehead. I was sure he didn't know what to say to me. I screwed up and might get fired.
"He hates being called that. Besides, the owner of the company is actually his stepfather not his biological father. His father died when he was only twelve making his mom remarry. Don't worry I'll talk to him." Alex said reassuring me. He kissed me on the cheeks before I got down of his car making my way to my flat.

I felt horrible about what I said and decided to call him. He picked up at the third ring panting.

"Hello Sir" I said as there was a minute of silence. He didn't say anything and I was scared he was going to yell at me or worse hang up but he shocked me by acting totally different.

"Thelma. This one you're ringing me at this time of the night, your boyfriend has dumped you right?" He joked as he laughed. I found myself laughing also partly because it was one of his foolish jokes but majorly because he was acting normal towards me.

"He's not my boyfriend." I stopped thinking of how to present my apology to him. I sucked at apologies, my mom told me that all the time. "Uh I called to um... say sorry about earlier" the sentence was so hard for me to say but I was glad I had finally said it.

He laughed firstly before replying me "I wasn't mad. I needed to use the bathroom urgently that period and didn't know how to excuse myself so you saying that gave me the perfect excuse to leave and besides I didn't get to pay!" He laughed again and then I thought about it. He actually left without paying because it was Alex that came to pay for both our foods.
"You eat like a cow! Do you know the bill was almost fifteen thousand naira?" He fired at me

"You're unbelievable." I said laughing a bit before hanging up the phone.

Was this guy for real? I have never seen or met someone like Jeremy Brown. I smiled all through the night till the following morning. This was probably the first time Jerry made me smile.
