It was nice working as a partner... it's been a couple of days and I enjoyed every part of it. I even got involved in some business meetings. Yes I'm used to meetings and all but only as Mr Agunji assistant not as a partner but I was willing to learn.
"Wanna grab lunch?" I asked as I scooted over to where he was seated at. He was exhausted... running a company was definitely not easy and since his step dad was away on business trip, all work fell on Jerry and I.
"Soon. We have just one last meeting." He said going through a red folder.
"Really? I thought we already met with all the potential clients?"
"Well you thought wrong dummy cause this folder is still here." He said waving the red folder at my face mockingly.
"So who's the person?" I asked as I hit his mocking hands away from my face. He winced a bit in pain.
"Uh I can't really pronounce the name because it's in Yoruba but I think it's Agungee."
The pronunciation of what he was trying to spell was obviously wrong but that name. I quickly grabbed the folder from him and went through it.
"OMG. Mr Agunji!" I yelled out as I covered my mouth in astonishment.
"You know him?"
"Know? I worked for this man for a long time before I started working here."
"So you recommend him?"
I wasn't sure what my plans were yet but I sure as hell wanted to meet him and see his reaction when he met me as a part owner of this company. "Let's meet with him first and then we'll decide." I said trying to hide the excitement off my face.
"Well someone does seem happy. He should be here by now." Jerry said and shortly after his phone rang. "Hello?"
I couldn't hear what the person told him but I guess it had something to do with the last meeting with Mr Agunji. God I was so excited to go for the meeting.
"They're here." Jerry said as he hangs up the phone and looks up to me. "Ready?"
"Gimme five minutes I'll join you guys." I said and quickly made my way to the bathroom. I couldn't exactly place my emotions yet.. was I happy? Angry? Or just sad? I wasn't sure but anyways I had to go for that meeting.
"You can do this Thelma. You'll finally prove to Mr Agunji that you can be something more than just a secretary." I said to myself in affirmation as I sprinkled little bubbles of water on my face and applied light makeup.
"Let's do this." I said and left the bathroom making my way to the conference room which was down on the 5th floor.
"You should be at the meeting!" Tolu fired as he caught up with me in the elevator.
"Yes I'm heading there right now." I said looking as confident as I could.
"You look nervous... are you okay?."
Oh God how did he see right through me?
"I'm fine. Just tired that's all." I said with a fake smile as the elevator door opened for 5th floor and I made my way to the conference room.
I got to the front of it but couldn't quite summon the courage I needed to enter. Why was I scared? It was just Mr Agunji... my former boss.
"Stop all this childish stuff Thelma and enter!" I said to myself as I gathered boldness and opened the door and stepped in.
"Ah my partner is finally here. Meet the co-director of this company and my girlfriend Thelma Badmus." Jerry praised as I raised my head to look up.... I met the shock of my life!
"Thelma!"
"Thelma!"
