Chapter Fourty-Three

We got settled down and I began my appointment with the doctor at a nearby hospital and he assured me my child was certainly doing well.

"Thank you doc... I'll be taking my leave now." I said and got up carrying my bag along with me.. Jerry wasn't chanced to accompany me today and it was understandable so I went out to make my way to the train station when I bumped into another lady.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry. How clumsy of me." She said as she bent down to pick up her folders that fell on the floor.

"Uh it's fine I should have been more careful too." I said and managed to bend also to help her pick the scattered papers on the floor. I picked up a few and managed to catch a glimpse of it... it was talking about rape effects on women and that got me.

"You're a writer?" I asked as I passed her the papers which she collected with a brief smile.

"Yes I am. I'm Abebarin Williams nice to meet you." She said as she managed to stretch out a hand to me which I took.. "I'm Thelma. Thelma Badmus"

Luckily we were heading the same way so we took the train ride together and talked the whole way.

She was a women rights advocate and that was really admirable of her. She was a feminist also and her dreams to make women rights equal in this world was so amazing.

"So yeah that's me for you. I just can't stand the way men feel they can walk all over us because we're females. So Yeah I'm hoping my works would be able to help impact the world for good."

"That's really amazing." I said with glow in my eyes. "So a vague question... what would you do if you knew someone that was raped and she can't voice out about it?"

She was quiet for awhile studying me which got me a bit uncomfortable... could she tell it was me?

"Well for one that's a scary experience so I'll make sure she's okay and do my best to get the perpetrator to justice that's what I'll do. Why? Do you know someone?"

I was considering whether to tell her or not before the train got to our stop.

"Oh we're here well I gotta go. It was nice meeting you Abebarin."

"Here's my card you can call me anytime if you wanna talk or someone to show you around London." She said with a smile as I collected the card and left. She was certainly a beautiful soul to meet.

I got back to the apartment to meet Jerry in the living room with Hannah they were watching a movie but Hannah ran out to hug me when she sighted me... we had really grown fond of each other.

"How was your doctor appointment?" Jerry asked as I sat down beside him... he looked indifferent which got me worried.

"It was fine. The baby's fine. How are you? Are you okay?" I asked concerned but he nodded almost immediately like he was expecting that question. I knew something was on his mind but until he voiced out there was little or nothing I could do.

I got talking with Abebarin a lot as her office wasn't so far from the hospital I did my checkup at. She explained all about her passions and what led her to begin this path of her life. She was a really amazing woman and we had a lot alike.

"So Thelma... your friend you told me about earlier, is that you?" The room suddenly got smaller and the air thinner.. I wasn't sure how to answer but I decided to be bold about it.

"Yes it's me. But honestly I'm happy right now and wouldn't wanna bring back the past."

"Is the baby his? Or your husband's ?"

I laughed a bit at the second question she asked... I wasn't even putting on a ring so what made her think I was married?
"No husband yet... and yes I got pregnant due to the rape incident."

"I'm sorry about that but hey a baby is a gift from God." She said with a warm and reassuring smile which made me smile back.

My phone sounded so I brought it out my bag to check who messaged me but it was an unsaved number... as I was about to open the text I got a call from Jerry which I picked immediately
"What's up?"
"Hey where are you? He asked and sounded worried.
"With my new friend I told you about. What's wrong?"
"Just come home immediately you're done. I have to tell you something." He said and sounded serious.

"Is everything okay?" Abebarin asked as I shrugged... I wasn't sure what exactly was wrong but he sounded really worried so it was best I went back home on time.
"I should get going now but it was fun talking to you." I said and got up as she walked me out to where I would board the train back home.

"Stay Safe."

Jerry's POV

Bunmi kept threatening me with the pictures and videos and honestly I couldn't take it anymore.
"Leave me tf alone.." I typed back to her and blocked her contact. I was going to tell Thelma immediately she got back from the doctors office. No matter what I would beg her and propose.

"Oh God what am I gonna do?"
I made a call to Thelma where I asked where she was and told her to come home. I paced around left n right unsure whether to still tell her or not. Hannah was off at her friends place so the house was empty and I had time to think of how to tell Thelma. She would be upset for sure but she has to forgive me... she has to!
