Chapter Fourty-Six

Jerry's POV
She ran out after hitting my face I knew I deserved that and more. I should have had the courage to tell her right from the time Bunmi started threatening me with the pictures and videos. I was a coward and I knew that. What was I going to do now?!

I had no idea where she could've gone to and I wasn't even sure if she knew anybody here in the UK.

Omg Thelma

I rushed out and looked through the nearby parks in case she ran there to clear her head but she wasn't there. I kept calling her cell but she wasn't picking. I was worried about what could happen to her. She was pregnant and almost due to give birth.

*ring ring*
I quickly brought out my phone to see who was calling hoping it was Thelma but it wasn't. It was my friend where Hannah was going off to.

Shit I forgot

"Are you still coming to get her tonight? Just wondering."

"Uh yes I'll be right there." I said and pocketed my phone as I rushed back to my place so I could get my car and go pick up Hannah. I would look for Thelma immediately I pick Hannah.

"Hey baby." I said as we hugged and she got in.. she looked around I'm pretty sure she was looking for Thelma.

"Where's Thelma?"

"Uh she had to go the doctor quickly she'll be right back." I lied... I couldn't tell her we got into a fight and I had no idea where she was.

I got her home and got her snacks and everything to get her comfortable as I rushed out again so I could look for Thelma.

Where could you have run off to Thelma?

"Hello Mister. Please have you by chance seen any pregnant lady around here?" I asked one of the workers at the park but he shook his head.

"Hey watch out!" I heard but it was the too late the biker brushed me as he managed to swerve away but my phone got hit and landed on the floor.

This isn't the time for this!!

I bent to pick it up and saw the screen was already broken!
"Fuck!" I yelled out as I tried tapping the screen to see if it would touch but nothing happened. Could this day get any worse!

I went back home since i couldn't do anything with this broken phone of mine. Hannah had fallen asleep on the couch so I got a blanket to cover her up. I didn't want to wake her up so she wouldn't ask of Thelma. I couldn't bear lying to her for the second time.

I took Hannah the next day to my friends place to stay for a week hopefully by the time she gets back I would have found Thelma... I hope.

I got a new phone the next day hoping to call Thelma but dammit I didn't know her UK number off head and I didn't keep a copy anywhere. I tried guessing different numbers but none seemed to work.

I was very worried now Thelma must be trying to reach me by now but maybe she needed space..

Space? How could she need space? This isn't Nigeria Jerry this is London she doesn't know anyone here! I have to find her! Or wait, what if she went back to Nigeria? Nah that's not possible she doesn't have her ticket with her.

My mind was all over the place I didn't know what to do. I went to the doctor place where she did her checkup but they said they had not seen her since her last checkup and at this point I didn't know what else to do.

The next day came and passed and still no sign of Thelma or how to reach her I was in the house thinking when I got a mail.

Bunmi was filing for custody of Hannah! Wtf was this and why now at this time I couldn't handle court case whilst still looking for Thelma.

The first court hearing was to be in a few days. I called my lawyer and he got me through all the process I would be going through. I got Hannah back to my place since the cops would be watching my every move now. Bunmi also came to the UK and she came over to the house a few times to see Hannah which of course I let her.

I hated her so much. She was out to ruin me and she knew Hannah was the only thing left that mattered to me.

"Why are you doing this Bunmi? You already ruined my relationship with Thelma now you want to get Hannah too.. why?"

"Look I'm sorry about you and Thelma but I just realized you wouldn't let me see Hannah if you got married so I wouldn't let that happen. Hannah is my daughter too and I want her by my side."

The lawyer told me I was at the advantage since I had the financial means to take care of Hannah but he encouraged I found Thelma.. if the court sees a female figure who Hannah was comfortable with it would certainly help the case and now Thelma was nowhere to be found.

The first hearing at the court came and I was shitting my pants. I was worried sick of both how the result of this would go and also how Thelma was doing.. she's supposed to be in labor anytime from now and I wasn't even going to be there with her.

The court session started and Bunmi's lawyer certainly came prepared. He brought the fact about how Hannah never wanted to move to Nigeria in the first place and the fact that I kept her apart from her mother for that long.

Which wasn't true. I never stopped Bunmi from getting in touch with Hannah all those while I was in Nigeria. She was just twisting things to her favor and due to the fact she was the mother she was getting the support she was looking for.

When I was questioned they asked if there was a motherly figure in Hannah's life who can fill in as a mom since I and Bunmi weren't married. That was suppose to be Thelma's spot but I had no idea where she was. My lawyer advised me not to mention any Nannies that the court would feel I was incompetent to be leaving my daughter with a nanny when her Mom was still in the picture.

"Yes I have a girlfriend Thelma and I'm supposed to get married to her. Hannah and she are also very close." I said that even though I had no idea where Thelma was but I'd do anything to save my case and keep Hannah.

"Where's this Thelma of a lady?" Bunmi's lawyer asked and I thought for awhile for what to say. I looked over to Bunmi and I could see she had a straight face she knew if Thelma was to show up her case is finished.

"She's here in UK but not around presently."

"Well I'm very sure the court and I would love to meet this Thelma of a person."

I bit my nails a bit... Thelma wasn't around to get here what could I do.

The court was adjourned and the next and final hearing was in a months time. Luckily they let Hannah stay with me as long as it was closer to the court and where Bunmi could access. They gave visiting time to Bunmi which of course I agreed to. Which meant I had to find an apartment for the meanwhile that was closer to the court. If I don't find Thelma before the next hearing I just might say I'll loose this case, I'll loose Hannah, I'll loose everything I love.

I know rii sick . It was intense for me writing it also as I'm sure you reading it.
