Chapter Twenty-Eight

Jerry did what he said and took me straight to his place... luckily for me, Hannah was actually glad to see me, I wondered why?

"So I know I was a jerk back then, and this is sorta like my way of apologizing." Jerry began and he helped me up the fleet of stairs to where I would be staying in.

I kept quiet and didn't answer him... I wasn't sure what exactly I was to say to him. I didn't want to screw things up again honestly. I think deep down with all my fears and flaws, I just want to be happy and Jerry makes me happy in a weird kind of way.

"So if you want anything, call the nanny or just call me." He said with a warm smile as he made his way to the door then stopped and turned around. "Thelma?"

"Yes." I said calmly waiting for whatever he had to say. I was tensed and it was obvious he was also.

"I'm sorry for not being understanding... And I'm going to win your trust, I promise you." And that was his last statement before he walked off. It was nice hearing those words from him and certainly put a smile on my face.

At night, Jerry insisted I took the drugs at the exact time the doctors told me to... we all ate at the dinning table and even Hannah was being nice to me.

"So your baby, is it a boy or a girl?" She asked while we were having dinner.

"Well I'm not sure yet. But I should be able to find out by next week." I said with a reassuring smile. Jerry fixed his gaze on me not letting a word out.

"Is there anything on my face?" I said deciding to break the tension between us.

"Uh no no." He laughed a bit. "I'm just glad to see you're okay."

Before I could reply him back, his phone rang and the expression that came on his face only meant it wasn't a pleasant one.

"What happened?" Hannah asked using her fingers to pick on the toast inside her plate.

"It's your mother. She's outside." He wasn't too happy about that but Hannah was definitely delighted to hear that.

"Mom!" She yelled as she ran out of the dinner room making her way to the front door.

"You don't look too happy about it?" I asked trying to study the expression on his face.

"I'm not." And before we could talk any further, Bunmi walked in holding Hannah's hand.

"Hey Jer. How are you doing?" Bunmi asked as the nanny set up a seat for her and brought dinner for her also.

"Never been better." Jerry answered sarcastically as he rolled his eyes at her.

"Evening." I let out politely trying not to sound jealous or anything. I wasn't sure if I was doing a good job at that.

"Hello. I see this is a family dinner. It can't be a family dinner without the Mom." I also rolled my eyes at her and decided to quickly finish up my food and head up.

If it wasn't so late in the night, I wouldn't mind going back home but entering this traffic at this time Ehn would be suicide.

I got up to the room I was to stay in and settled down getting ready to sleep.

I'll leave first thing tomorrow morning

I said to myself as I closed my eyes.. it wasn't right for me to be staying here especially now that his baby mama is around.

"Hey." I heard a voice call out as I looked up. It was Jerry.

"Hey." I said dryly as I sat up and he walked in sitting down beside me.

"I'm sorry about all that."

"You shouldn't be. She is still Hannah's mom." I defend trying not to look directly into his eyes.

He leaned in closely to me, my heart began to beat faster, it couldn't possibly be a kiss and I was glad it wasn't. He gave me a brief kiss on my cheeks before getting up and walking out.

That night, I slept with a lot of uncertainty in my head. I wasn't sure if Jerry and she slept together or not... I couldn't even bring myself to ask him. I woke up very early and quickly showered and got ready to leave when I got out to the living room, I met Jerry playing video games.

"You slept here?" I asked as he turned around to look at me.

"Yeh. I let Bunmi sleep in my room." He said and returned back to his game. "Wait where you going all packed up?" He asked again noticing my bag was packed.

"I'm going home. I'm all better now thank you but I can't stay here any further." I said firmly. My mind was all made up.

"Alright. At least let me drop you off." He begged and got up to follow me.

"Okay." I said as we got into his car and he drove off.
Jerry and I had been in a very off place lately... there was a lot of unsaid things between us and neither of us wanted to voice out first.
I was just gonna get home, call Mr Aaron and accept his work proposal... strictly work and from there build my career till I can travel out. Away from all these mess I've managed to get myself into.
