Chapter Nineteen

I got back to the company and honestly I wasn't fine at all. I was nervous I was frightened. My whole body was shaking with fear. I bought a pregnancy test on my way back here at a pharmacy. The pharmacist when I asked her if she though I was pregnant, agreed with me that I didn't look pregnant at all that probably I wasn't just feeling too well that was why I was vomiting all the place.
"Thelma, what did Mr Holt say when you gave him the files?" Jeremy asked sipping something from his bottle... it didn't look like water and he was more calm than earlier. Probably it was alcohol.

"He j-just sai— I couldn't go on. I was too frightened to even talk.

"Woah! Calm down woman. What happened? The people coming to kill you, have they finally come?" He joked but I couldn't even laugh at this point. I excused myself and made my way to my desk to seat down.

A lot of thoughts ran through my mind. I couldn't have a kid now, I wasn't even married and besides who could be the father?

Mr Peterson!

The shocking revelation came downing on me. I hadn't checked myself at the hospital after the incident but it certainly couldn't be. It's been over a month now and I know I had been craving a lot of junks lately, but I wasn't really increasing in my weight, or maybe I hadn't just noticed.

"Thelma, is everything okay?" Tolu asked showing concerns as he seats on my desk, I didn't want to start talking until I was sure so I just nodded and he left.

*Alert*

My phone beeped as I looked through it. It was my salary wow was it already noon? I looked at my available balance and it was #889,000. Wow I already had a lot saved... I could finally afford a fairly used car I thought to myself.

They passed an announcement to us through the mail that there would be a meeting immediately after close of work. "Ugh" I hated meetings and certainly not when I had this pressing matter on my hand.

"Thelma!" Jeremy called once again as I grudgingly made my way to his office. I squeezed my face up in a frown and certainly wasn't in any mood for his jokes. I got in and met it empty,

where was this ode now? I heard his voice just now I'm very sure.

"Boo!" He yelled from behind me as I screeched and jumped further into his office in order to escape whatever was behind me.

"What the Fuck!" I yelled in annoyance as he just stared at me laughing.

"Calm down. It's not the boogeyman. It's just your boss Jerry." He explained to me as he staggered to his chair and sat down comfortably on it. "So your paycheck has entered I'm sure, what are you buying for me?" He asked as I looked around the office mockingly thinking of who the fuck he thought he was talking to.

"Buying, for you?" I laughed as he smiled. "Sir the only thing I can buy for you is a mask. So I wouldn't have to look into your ugly face everyday."

"That's a lie. I know you find me attractive." He said proudly as he made some weird faces to me, he called it cute faces. What a joke

"Hannah asks of you everyday. She wants to meet you again." He said and looked through his phone.

I tried my best to hide my excitement but the thought of Hannah asking after me just broke me up. "Really? Oh my gosh when do I get to meet her again?"

"There's not gonna be any meeting. You don't wanna buy me a gift, you can eat all your money up yourself." He was acting like a little child who didn't want to share his toys.

Was he always this way whenever he was drunk? He could really be a drama queen at times.

"I'll get you a gift definitely. You're my boss. And I'll also get one for Hannah, she deserves it for being such a cutie."

"Just like her father." He added but I just scorned at him and laughed.

"So for the new employees, we want to say thank you for your commitment and hard work and also welcome you officially into the company. We see ourselves as a family here."

"Family my foot." I whispered to myself as I laughed in my head. Everyone looked so excited and had eagerness all up in their faces.
Jerry looked disinterested and sat down pressing his phone.

I received a text shortly after from him.

"Boring right?"

I looked over to where he was seated but he didn't raise his head up from his phone. I laughed to myself and replied him.

"Yeah. Your stepdad talks a lot."

"Don't you all?😏"

Ah! What an insult... I looked over at him and he had a smirk on his face as he let out a little chuckle. I hadn't noticed that my name was being mentioned until someone beside me tapped me on the shoulder.

"Oh I'm sorry sir." I said now facing the chairman who didn't seem happy at all.

"You'll be given a company car as a reward and also we would be sorting your accommodation from now on."

"Wow thank you sir." I said happily as I excused myself to go into the toilet.

I brought out the pregnancy test since I was already tensed up and needed to know now. I followed the instructions on it and urinated where needed. I shook the little plastic for awhile.

It was time to look at it, I was more nervous than before and had beads of sweat assemble together at the center of my forehead, the air conditioning (a/c) didn't seem to chase them away as I took in a deep breath.

On the count of 3. I said to myself and began counting...

1!

Positive!! I yelled out and quickly covered my mouth with my hand... almost biting my skin.
