"jackie? you hungry or anything?" i ask the girl who is buried under the blankets, looking up at her ceiling. she shakes her head 'no' in response before the sound of knocks were heard coming from the front of the house. "i'll get it," i say softly, and going to open the door. mattia, alvaro, roshaun and i all walk back into jackie's room, alvaro and roshaun confused as to why we were all here. "jackie? what happened?" alvaro questions as he walks over to his crying bestfriend.

"what's wrong with her?" roshaun whispers to mattia and i, since the two of them weren't at the party, they dont know what happened. "kairi and vic," jackie says softly, tears beginning to trickle down the side of her face. "lemme go beat his ass, please," mattia says as alvaro and roshaun put two and two together. "the fuck? how- when- why-" alvaro says, wondering why kairi would do something like that to the girl he said he liked so much.

"dont cry j, he's not worth it," i say, sitting on the edge of the bed, placing my hand on her leg. jackie sniffles, rubbing her eyes and flashes a small smile at me. the room goes quiet as we hear jackie's phone ringing, making us all wonder if it could be kairi. jackie sighs before picking up her phone, noticing that it was her older brother who was calling. "i cant answer like this," jackie sighs, "if he were to see me crying he'd tell my cousins to come," she says softly. "i got it, be right back," alvaro says, taking jackie's phone out of the room and into the living room.

simultaneously, all of our phones goes off, indicating that someone was texting in the groupchat. "kairi," mattia groans, rolling his eyes, "where did you guys go?" he scoffs as he reads the message. "im gonna beat his ass," alvaro says walking back into jackie's room, handing her phone back. "stop, thats your guys' friend," jackie says, her voice hoarse due to all the crying she had been doing. "yeah, but that doesn't mean what he did wasnt wrong, you're my bestfriend jackie, he hurt you," alvaro says getting upset. "calm down varo, its okay," jackie says, placing her head on alvaro's shoulder.

for the next couple hours, the four of us try to make jackie feel better, either by saying jokes or making funny tiktoks. "hey ba- oh hi guys," jackie's mom says to us as she walks into the room. "hey ms. mendoza," we all say, getting up to greet her. "you okay mija?" she asks, looking over at jackie whos still laying on the bed, making us all look over at her too. "yeah, just tired, i'll see you guys monday okay?" jackie says, getting up and looking at us. "oh... yeah, okay," we all say, grabbing our stuff before jackie walks us outside.

"bye whores," she says, "are you sure you're okay?" i ask, giving her a hug. "i'm fine," she says softly as she hugs me back, then giving hugs to the other three. "i love you, dont be sad over that bum" alvaro says when she gets to him. "love you too, varo," she laughs, wrapping her arms around him. "bye shawty," mattia says, making us all laugh as we get in the car. "kairi aint shit," roshaun mumbles, making mattia agree with him. "as right as you are, like jackie said, he is still our friend," mattia says back as he starts driving. "jackie's our friend too though," i say, turning to look out the window.
