"happy birthday!" mattia and robert smile at me as alejandro and i walk into the school, hand in hand with smiles on our faces. "thank you guys," i smile, giving them a hug as alvaro and roshaun walk over to us. "happy birthdaaaaaaay," the two boys sing walking over and also giving me a hug.

"thanks uglies," i smile, returning the gesture before we all make our way to the cafeteria and sitting down at the table we usually sat at. "so, my mom said tonight we're going out with my younger brothers and my tia for dinner, wanna come with?" i ask as i feel alejandro place his hand on my thigh.

"yeah, sure," he says, kissing the side of my head as mattia sparks up a conversation between us all. "so, jackie, where do you wanna go tomorrow fathead?" he asks, everyone turning to look in my direction. "huh? what're you talking about?" i ask him, not knowing that we were doing anything tomorrow.

"well, it was gonna be a surprise, but dino over here had to ruin it," alejandro says, smacking his lips and laughing. "we're gonna go eat," alvaro chimes in, earning a nod from everyone else. "oh, aw guys, we don't gotta do anything, we're already having a party," i tell them, feeling bad that they're doing all this for a day I never really pay much mind to. "nah, you're our girl, we going all out," mattia says, making me smile.

"we can go wherever, don't matter to me," i shrug, looking between the boys. "mattia, why don't we just go to your dad's?" alvaro chimes in, roshaun agreeing with him. "sure if you guys want," mattia says, earning nods from everyone and texting his dad to let him know about the plans that were being made. "gotta go, see you guys later," i say, waving at the group as alejandro and i make our way to our first period class.

the rest of the day is filled with various classmates and teachers i've never really talked to telling me "happy birthday," which did put a smile on my face. lunch went smoothly, the only difference being that kairi wasn't there, but other than that, everything was normal.

after lunch, i said bye to alejandro and made my way to my next class and i was caught by surprise to see kairi sitting in the seat next to mine. "happy birthday!" kairi smiles as i take a seat next to him, "thank you," i laugh looking over at him, "hey where were you at lunch?" i asked him. "oh, i was on the fields," he replies, reaching in his bag to grab something.

"here, i got you something, when we were still you know... anyways, here," he smiles, taking out a thin box from his backpack. "kairi," i pout, "you didn't have to get me anything!" i say, shoving him lightly. "i know, but i got it a while back, so i just decided to give it to you today," he says smiling slightly and urging me to open it. "kairi!! thank you, oh my god," i smile, opening the box and recognizing the necklace from a while back.

"i remember we were hanging out and you showed me it on your phone, so i ordered it," he says looking down at the box. "i love it, thank you," i say, giving him a side hug and taking out the small chain with the locket pendant. "no problem," he says as the teacher walks in while i put the necklace on. "okay, free period, study, read, sleep, talk, doesn't matter, just be quiet," she says, taking a seat at her desk.
