CHAPTER THIRTY NINE: I FORGIVE YOU

→ DICK SAT ALONE IN his cell. "octavia?" dick asked, "octavia!" he yelled.
"dammit. the one time you disappear." dick said softly. a bird cawed and landed on the high windows of dick's cell.
dick stood up and looked at the bird. "hey.." he said softly. the bird flew away.
"hey, hey!" dick yelled. dick curled up on the floor and slowly drifted to sleep.
dick opened his eyes and looked up. "so tell me." octavia spoke, standing in front of them, "does dad's life hack work?" she asked.
dick stood up, "where did you go?" he asked.
"you needed to rest. build up energy for your escape." octavia said.
"no escapes for me." dick said.
"deathstroke has taken hostages and here you are... not doing shit." octavia replied.
"we have a truce. he's not gonna touch anybody." dick said.
"well... adeline was there. slade was there. you were there. and yet no killing, why?" octavia asked.
"he was unarmed." dick replied, "and i was in adeline's house."
"maybe he didn't want to." octavia said, "maybe. there's something inside slade that you need."
"yeah. his tiny tin heart got to me." dick said.
"damn, you really are stupid." octavia said softly, "you both loved jericho. you both got him killed. common bound for self loathing. as a long as slade's alive, you can always blame him."
"i admitted to my mistake." dick said.
"that was so moving." octavia said. she slowly clapped her hands.
"you think this is funny?" dick asked.
"took you five years." octavia said smiling.
"fuck you." dick went to punch octavia but she moved out of the way. dick turned back to octavia and tired to punch her.
octavia grabbed his arm and twisted it back. she threw dick back and he landed on a stage.
dick looked up and saw octavia walked in front of him. dick tried to sweep her feet. she jumped back and dick stood up.
dick took out three batarangs and threw them at her. octavia moved out of the way and caught all three.
"you're fighting the wrong fight." octavia said. octavia threw the batarangs back at dick. dick ducked down and attacked octavia with multiple punches that she all blocked.
