It Can't Be...

Chapter 8

Detrick (D) POV

I chuckle silently as Shane and Dee stare at Tee. Even when the server came to take their order, they could barely take their eyes off of Tee to look at the menu. Well, I did tell them that he looks just like me and they did see his pictures, but I'll have to agree that it is completely different when you are looking at him in the flesh instead of a picture.

I had all last night to get used to it. Well, I'll have to admit that I'm still not completely used to it, but I'm happy that I met my brother. I still can't believe that I have an identical twin brother. When I was thinking that Tee was maybe a cousin, I was excited, but to find out that he is actually my twin brother, I'm over the moon. However, I have so many questions.

What I can't stop replaying in my head is Tee's comments last night when he said that he knew that I wasn't dead. What was that all about? I'm getting a bad feeling about it, but I don't want to ruin my good mood. I will ask Tee questions, but not right now. No. Right now, I want to enjoy the fact that I actually have family that wants to talk to me and be around me.

Tae clears his throat and warns, "You better stop touching my boyfriend. I usually don't allow it, but since you are friends of D, I'm trying to be nice. However, you are trying my patience right now."

Tee chuckles and playfully slaps Dee and Shane's hands away.

I look at Shane and Dee. "I would listen to him. From what I have learned about him last night, he is the leader of the engineering department."

Tee adds, "He is a very possessive boyfriend."

Shane looks at Tae. "I'm not trying to steal your boyfriend. I still can't believe that they are identical twins. DeeDee thought that maybe Tee was a cousin or some other family member from his father's side of the family. We were positive that Tee was related to D-man some way. We just didn't expect it to be as brothers, and identical twins at that too."

Dee nods her head. "It never even crossed my mind that Detrick could have a brother."

Tee chuckles and shakes his head. "Shane, I still can't believe the names that you call Detrick and Dee. Why don't you use Detrick's full name instead of D-man? Then you could use Dee's name instead of DeeDee."

Shane shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know. It just sort of happened that way and I've been doing it for too long now that I couldn't change even if I wanted to."

Tae points his spoon towards Detrick and then Shane and finally Dee. "So, how long have you guys actually known each other?"

Shane looks towards Dee. "How long has it been?" He glances over towards Detrick. "Since seventh grade?"

Dee and Detrick nod. Dee smiles and chimes, "We just started middle school and we were all new to the school. Some boy tried to bully me and before I could do anything, these two stepped in and stop the boy. I still argue that I could have taken him."

Detrick chuckles. "I have no doubt now that you could have taken him, but at the time, Shane and I didn't know that."

Shane nods and point his spoon towards Dee. "She proved herself later that year. Was it the same boy or a different one?"

Dee smirks and sits up straight. "It was the same boy and I ended up giving him a black eye. He learned to never bully a girl again, or did I threaten him. I don't remember. The important thing is that he never tried to harass a girl again. I think I even remember him trying to protect some other girl. I can't remember when, but I know that he did."
