Part 9

After Chase left I sat on my bed feeling sorry for myself before finally getting up and getting sorted.

I washed, dressed, ate and left the house to go to the museum to talk to Kendal about these gems; hopefully she'll have some ideas on where it could be, or at least where to start.

I bounced in, coffee in hand, and was greeted with Riley's lovely face, "and hello to you. My, you do seem cheery this morning."

I smiled back and sat with him at the table, "it's just nice to be home."

"Home?" He raised an eyebrow as I took a sip of my coffee.

"Well, Yeah. This is my home. I tried other places but this place just feels right." I smirked as I opened up a notebook and grabbed my pen.

Riley looked down at him book, lips pursed like he was going to say something. "Can I help you?" I smiled

"Did you see Chase last night?"

I shot my eyes back up to him, did chase tell him what happened? "He came by Yeah, why?"

"He said he was gonna see you and just wondered if he did." Riley looked back at his book and continued to read.

"Oh."

We sat in silence as I looked through my laptop and twiddled my pen in my other hand. My coffee was long finished when Riley spoke again.

"Did you wanna see a movie tonight?" He blurted our quite quickly, so quick I just about made it out.

He asked me out?? Riley? Riley asked me out? Did he? Or is this a group thing?

"As in, just us two?" I asked nervously.

"Err, Yeah."

He looked nervous. I was shocked. I mean, Riley was cute. Really cute. We got on. But, he liked me? Like that!?

"Yeah" I blurted out without even thinking.

"Cool. So, I'll pick you up around 7?"

"Sounds good." I smiled. Riley smiled back, his face softening as we both looked back at our work and sat in silence again.

A date with Riley. Never thought this would happen.
