Chapter 3A King without a Queen
Iñiguez Palace
Madrid Anselo was staring on the wall while in the shower. He also stared at the water droplets coming from him. Hindi niya alam kung ilang oras o minuto na siyang nandoon. He woked up early, maybe 4 in the morning. After that, he decided to take shower for himself. He doesn't know what to do nor to think. Everything that happened to him was so fast - like he wasn't allowed to say or decide something - or he wasn't allowed to breathe.
Everything was suffocating him. It was like he entered a war without even preparing himself a weapon. He entered a very dangerous game that he wasn't even accustomed to. A game in which he doesn't even know how to play it... and he's sure, one bad move from him will result to a lot of consequences.
Never in his whole life that he imagined he'll become a King of a country. It was the duty of her elder sister, not him. He was supposed to be a free-spirited, adventurous young man who always parties at nightclubs, goes to college and plays soccer during free time. He did not even take his royal duties seriously.
Not until now.
He heard another knock from the door. It was then he came back to his senses.
"Your majesty, Sir," It was Gonzalo Martin's voice.
"You can come in, Gonzalo, it's open," He said in a loud voice, without getting out from the shower.
Narinig naman niyang bumukas ang pinto ng kwarto.
"Your grace," Gonzalo started and he noticed he was already near the shower room area, "The Crown's advisor is here."
Madrid sighed, "Let him come in, in my room, Gonzalo."
"Yes, your majesty."
Nakarinig naman siya ng mga yapak ulit papasok sa kwarto niya. He could hear Gonzalo closing the door of his room, leaving The Crown's advisor, alone.
Madrid immediately turned off the shower. Kinuha naman niya kaagad ang nakasabit na puting tuwalya at ginamit iyon sa pagtuyo ng buhok niya. Then he walked out from the shower room, naked.
"Your majesty--" Napatigil naman ang advisor nang makitang nakahubad lang siya at walang saplot, "Y-You're naked," Sinubukan pa nitong umiwas at hindi siya tignan. Napabuntong-hininga naman si Madrid sa reaction nito. The Crown's advisor was a middle-aged man. Sa pagkakaalala niya sa sinabi ni Gonzalo sa kanya kagabi (after his sister's and father's funeral), the advisor is Sir Richard Montez, his father's previous advisor. Sir Montez was a professor and dean of the College of Law of an established university in the country. He also garnered a PhD status - and knows all the basics between politics and monarchy.
