Day Eleven- Nurse!Levi
(11/17/14)
"Thanks ag-ouch!-again," I flinched as Levi dabbed my forehead. The cool, damp rag soothed my pain, but the sudden temperature change sent a jolt through my nerves.
"Well, someone has to watch the brat," Levi stated plainly.
I looked at Levi; he studied my head wounds with bored eyes. It was peculiar, I thought. Always being taller, I felt almost uncomfortable sitting under Levi's scrutinizing study. A sudden freezing, bubbling sensation had me wincing and gasping for a second before I realized it was just hydrogen peroxide.
"Chill out," Levi murmured. "It's going to clean your filthy face.
"Don't go doing this again," he added with a twinge of worry.
"You're the one who recruited me in the Scout Regiment," I said, looking down. "Erwin needed me."
Levi scoffed. "That Captain Eyebrows is almost as stupid as you, sending you on that unnecessary mission."
"Yeah, well, I'm back now, okay?" I snapped. An insult from Jean or Connie, even a light one, stung enough without it coming from Levi's mouth.
I frowned. "I'll try to convince Captain it's not worth the win if the mission is not necessary, how about that?"
"Hm," Levi grumbled.
"Hey, Levi," I laughed, "I don't think you have to run your fingers through my hair to bandage my cheek."
"Hahaha- shut up," he spoke dryly. "Hold that armrest, this will sting."
"Like it hasn't already?" I complained, but wrapped my slender fingers around it anyways.
A cry of pain escaped me and I fought back tears as Levi dripped alcohol into a deep, infected laceration on my arm. Describing it as painful would be an underestimate. I was so tortured that some of my pain seemed to translate to Levi. He winced, his mouth tightening, and dribbled more of the liquid into my cut.
The pain came in unforgiving waves; there was only so much I could take in my weakened state. Nausea rolled inside me like a taut, twisted rope. I closed my eyes tightly, as if the burn wouldn't linger if I couldn't see the alcohol in action, and I moaned softly. Color flashed and danced behind my closed eyelids, and I felt dizzy. The fresh wave of hurt sharpened my sense for a fleeting second.
"T-thanks, L-Lev-Corp-Corporal-" I felt myself heat up even more with embarrassment at my pitiful stuttering before the world went dark and silent.
