27: Invisible

Chapter 27

It has been a busy week. Next week Midterms exam na kaya puspusang paghihirap na ang pinapagawa ng mga teachers sa amin. I love school but being a student sometimes sucks.

“Why are they even looking at us?”

I raised a brow and turned to look at Aiken. “Well, aren’t you used to it?”

“I am. But it feels like they were all shock seeing us together.”

I shrugged. “Its been a while na rin kasi. Maybe they’re just curious why we’re together. I mean, at the start of the sem, you started hanging out with... you know.”

He smiled at me sheepishly. “I’m a bad friend huh?”

“Yeah, sure.” I rolled my eyes at him nudged him. “Wag magdrama, Ken, di bagay. Order ka na, rest room muna ako.”

Binaba ko yung highlighter pen ko saka tumayo para pumunta ng banyo. Tumango si Aiken tapos tumayo na rin siya para pumuntang counter.

We’re back to normal. Everything felt familiar yet different. Kahit naman kasi na sabihin nating bumalik na sa dati ang friendship namin, pre-Faye, iba pa rin yung feeling. Kahit na ganito naman kami dati pa, parang may nagbago.

But I don’t complain. I like this better... though it is kind of weird.

After doing my thing in the rest room, I headed back towards our table. Nakaupo na doon sina Therese and Brian and pinapakialaman ang notes ko. Wala naman kaming class na pareho pero kung tignan at basahin nila yung notes ko, parang pinag-aaralan talaga.

“What took you so long? And where’s Nicole?” I asked as I sat beside Therese.

“Hello to you too, dear,” Therese greeted me, attempting to pull a British accent. “Well, while we’re on our way here, we bumped into Chase, talked for a while, exchanged numbers and you know,” she wiggled her eyebrows. “Planned for our date.”

“At saan galing ang trying hard na British accent?” tanong ko.

“Duh. Nahawa lang ako kay Chase. He’s just so perfect,” she stated the last one in a dreamy voice.

Bri leaned in and slapped the back of Therese’s head. “Gagi! Irish yun, vakla! Ano ba yan. Crush mo ba talaga yun? Ni hindi mo alam yung nationality ng crush mo.”

“Aray naman, vakla! E pake ko ba? Basta gwapo, pwede na yun, edible na!” Rese replied.

I threw her a disgusted look. Eew. The two of them continued bickering while I arranged my notes and placed it inside my bag. Sinong makakapag-aral sa ganito ka-ingay na environment?

Habang busy yung dalawa sa pagbabakbakan, nilibot ko yung mata ko sa loob ng cafeteria. People are busy. Most of them are just sitting while others are eating while studying and talking. Talk about multi-tasking.
