elemental feelings

i don't remember what you look like,
or how your skin feels,
even how my hand fit right into yours the way cinderella's foot fits her shoe.

but i remember how you made me feel like the oceans current moved in between my ribs,
and how when i inhaled it was sweet, like i was breathing in fields of flowers.

i remember how you made the world seem exciting, and your love felt like a dense forest after a light rain.

and when we kissed your lips tasted like lavender and eucalyptus and were always being pulled into mine,
magnetic.

but sometimes your lips would taste like cherry, or there would be a tsunami that would knock down my ribs.

and in those moments i remembered what you looked like,
and how your skin felt,
and how cinderella's foot fits into her shoe.

i saw how the universe would tear up memories as fast as she could make them.

and lord, how she's tearing us apart as fast as she put us together.
