(Ghost! Law X Reader) You find an unlikely tutor in your school's resident ghost.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What?" You stared at the ghost, gaping at the transparent body like it- well, like it was transparent.
But that wasn't the reason you were surprised.
"I said that-" gesturing to the small, black and white diagram of a frog's innards, the ghost pointed out to the spot where pencil markings were written and repeatedly erased again and again, "is the gall bladder"
Going silent at that, you stared down at the sheet of homework that has stumped you for hours, glaring hard at the diagram with a blank expression, it only smirked smugly back at you, as if to say, 'you are a fucking moron'
"Wait.." letting the cogs in your mind do their thing, feeling a smirk grow from the ghost's confused face, you allowed your humor to kick in, "does this mean you're such a perfectionist that you actually came back from the dead to correct me, or that I'm such a dumbass that I summoned the ghost of tutoring?"
The ghost didn't look impressed at all, in fact, it was the opposite of being impressed, he was disappointed.
"I'd go with the second one.. but I'm not some tutoring spirit- I'm Law, Trafalgar Law"
Instantly recognizing the name, your face lit up with a humorous smile, "eyy! You're the kid that died from exhaustion during exams!"
The ghost named Law floated back, caught off guard from your words, only to suddenly get up in your face with a red hue, "I- it was a rough year okay?! I thought that maybe I could get away with cutting some corners in exchange for more studying hours!"
Facial muscles contorting into a look of amused disbelief, you resisted the urge to laugh in his face- just in case someone might walk in and think you were having a sleep deprived hallucination, and it was bad enough the school cameras were catching you looking crazy in the halls.
Here's to hoping that those shitty old things were just there for decoration.
"Cutting corners?! Dude, you're a legend! They say you went a whole week with nothing but fifteen cups of coffee and six hours of sleep!" Law grimaced, like he tasted the sour flavor of regret, "six days!" He hissed offendedly, "it was six days.. not a week.. I made sure to sleep at least an hour a day.."
Turning away from you almost dejectedly, the ghost just floated there, and you contemplated on just leaving before he suddenly jumped back in your face again, "wait! You can see me?!"
Moving to grab your shoulders, you both froze for a moment when his hands just phased through you, causing the stark reminder that you were in fact speaking with a dead guy.. again.
"Yeah.. my mum's kinda a witch..?" Somewhere along the lines, you made the discovery that because your mother was a self proclaimed woman of witchcraft things, you suddenly had a connection with the spiritual world, and that includes the residents.
Law blinked owlishly, "witch? Like as in broomstick and cauldron..?" You shrugged your shoulders, "ehh, she does have a broomstick- but she doesn't use it to fly, it's more like a good luck charm? And she has a cauldron too- but it's like super tiny, and she hardly uses it anymore after she burnt the table.."
Law's face fell, "exactly how long has she been a witch?" You scrunched up your nose, digging hard into your horrible memory to find a reasonable guess, "umm? Four years maybe..?" Law sweat-dropped.
"How exactly does being a witch for four years give your daughter supernatural sensitivity?" Waving the matter off, you actually began to take note of Law's appearance.
The rumors you've heard made the deceased student sound like he was nothing but a sunken skeleton when he dropped, pencil in hand, however, contrary to the popular talk, he was in fact a pretty good looking dude.
Fluffy looking raven hair, well-kept side burns and a goatee, showing that even though the guy was literally studying to death for exams, he didn't slacken in self grooming.
His skin was a beautiful, rich chestnut, a little on the sun kissed side, it would be very convincing to think that he wasn't holed up in a room for days on end with only artificial light- or that he was transparent and dead.
The eyes- you couldn't tell if they were like that before he died or it was a ghost thing, but they were a perfect grey, an extremely alluring grey, like that kind of grey that can change with his mood, that can go from shining silver to stormy tempest.
Oh fuck you loved those eyes.
Before you could catch yourself, Law already caught you staring and you found yourself without a quick excuse.
"Oh? Has it finally sunk in that you're talking to a dead man?" Immediately running with that to hide your true motives, you just shook your head wildly and grinned stupidly.
"Psh, this ain't the first time.. you're like- ghost number three at this point"
Law sweat-dropped at that, "I see.."
The silence that came afterwards was really fucking awkward, like you were just fidgeting there, and you knew he could probably see the discomfort on your face, and you could see the transparent cold sweat rolling down his chin.
Yeah.. awkward..
Blushing hard as your anxiety began to bump up, you thought up an excuse to get a conversation rolling again, "w-well actually you're the first ghost to treat me this nicely so..." trailing off when the teen gave you a stern look, your mouth instantly shut down.
"Oh.." suddenly a smirk made it's way onto his features, and then it felt like someone shoved a bag full of butterflies down your throat.
"Then I'm glad I decided to push my bitchy side away for now" smiling at that, you were about to say more, but was interrupted by the school bell.
Turning to the window, you became aware of the bleeding skies and stormy clouds.
"Ah- do you wanna come with me to my dorm Law? We can have a sleepover and get to know one another better! And you can maybe tutor me!" Grinning the best way you knew, you hoped to all the stars your charm would actually work for once.
"Sure" on the inside you thrusted your fist into the air and squealed, excited at the thought that you were socializing for once.
I mean it was a dead guy but who the fuck cares he counts.
"Would you lead the way?" Floating back to give you more room in the halls, Law's eyes shined a murky, steely grey that made you want to leap out of your skin.. in a good way.
This was the year you made your first spectral friend.
And were about to make a lot more enemies.
