(Katakuri X Reader) Your family was proposed an alliance with Big Mom, we all know what happens after that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting as dignified as you knew how, you didn't bother to listen to the many whispers gossiping about your regal presence.

Pulling half heartedly on your gloves, you picked at them mindlessly, watching as the chess men continued being cautious of your every move, they would stop for a moment or two and then walk by.

Your family was invited to Whole Cake island for the proposal of an alliance, mostly because in the latest papers, the government has been portraying your kingdom and the royal family in the center as quite the threat- as such the Yonko decided she wanted another piece to play on her oversized chessboard.

Your father- being the opportunist that he was, went for the offer straight away, which led to your family being escorted there by the emperor's literal pawns.

Obviously she didn't think much of you, or she would have had better people escorting you.

Relishing in the tranquility of the sea, flurries of wet sparks appeared as the ship forced it's way through the waters, causing a small mist to blow across the deck, and you calmly kept to yourself until another person sat beside you.

"How does it look Fealty?" Turning to your father, you blinked up at the sun and smelled the salty breeze slowly transitioning into something sweeter, "sincere.. safe.. an invaluable opportunity" nodding at that, the king looked up at you with a thoughtful stare.

"I don't want you to cause any unnecessary attention to yourself, are we clear?" You nodded, giving him the validation he needed to lighten his shoulders, "good, I'd rather not marry off my single, precious daughter" with that he left.

Not having much to worry about, you allowed yourself to ease up and think a little deeper to pass the time- sure, it was a bad habit with how you'd occasionally overthink, but using your mind was one of the best ways you protected yourself- it would be bad to let it get rusty.

Fealty.. yes, you were loyal, that was why your father named you after the word after all, that was how you were labeled, and how you would always be seen- as your father's loyal soldier, attentive, dedicated, constantly keeping an eye open for threats, yes, a true knight in polished, well-bred armor.

(Y/n).. the name your mother intended for you, you liked it for some reason, you loved it the moment a castle maid let it slip and never dared let it go, but it was ultimately shunned by the king, and in the end you were indeed labeled Fealty, never would one know you as (Y/n).

Thoughts of mother then plagued you, her lovely face, her deep and loving nature- oh how she couldn't stand the vicious ambitions of your father- or the destiny he intended for you to fulfill, you still remembered the young night she tried to run off with your petite form in her arms, you still remembered how she was crudely shot for her crimes in cold blood.

After that, all you remembered was how your father kept you especially close afterwards, and all of the remembrance of her loving touches and warmth was slowly lost to you, replaced by the harsh commands of your father and kept as not memories but dreams.

You were well aware that it was your fate, you were his pride and joy, a trophy of his success, a symbol of his power, just a small reminder of his first love, and you were always going to be that until you were crowned queen, where you would be expected to surpass him and continue to build the legacy he set upon the family name.

But for now, you were merely his knight on the chessboard, an item that could be expendable for the sake of his glory if needed to be.

Smelling sugary frosting, you allowed a small smile, feeling the cravings of sweets bubble underneath the surface ravenously.
