(Law X Luffy X Reader) Law with you and Luffy as baby demons, that's it. That's the plot.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Law cursed heatedly as the cackles continued to bounce around the house ruins with no foreseeable end, purposefully mocking him in a way that piled curse after curse on his damned soul.

If he was in any other kind of situation, he wouldn't hesitate to jump out, hunt it down, slug the miserable critter and burn it within an inch of it's meagerly existence before sending it back to the sweltering pits from were it was forged, the only thing preventing such were the heavy wounds that dominated his leg, and the skin crawling skittering echoing all around him from every possible direction.

Law knew he was greatly advised against entering a demon nest all alone, be it by his peers, his teachers, and his friends, the only thing that scathed him the most was that Eustass- that stupid, cocky oaf, was going to be proved right when nothing but his eyeballs would be recovered

There was an unsettling.. jingle, that could be the only word Law could think of at the time to describe the sound, jittering from down the hall where he was concealed, it eerily resembled the pitch of an old jack-in-the-box that was absurdly out of tune.

Fuck, he hated poltergeists.

Taking a shallow breath, the raven hunkered down even further and held his lungs, lest the creature hear him.

There was nothing to be seen in the black halls, nonetheless, the jingling continued to grow closer, the floorboards groaned and cried as if being scraped apart by a clawed beast, he couldn't hear it, but felt the walls and floor and ceiling rattle with distant movement.

There was a pause, a ringing silence, not even the distant skittering of other demons remained as the hall grew incredibly frigid, enough that Law feared that if he let his breath slip, it would glow within the vast sheet of darkness.

A voice emerged, unnatural, misshapen, truly terrifying, the words artificial in both sincerity and in birth, like a gale plucking through the bare, dead trees of a frosty winter night for an abundance of fruit that was simply not there.

"I'll protect you.."

This hasn't been the first time Law's heard demons prattle on with words they simply didn't understand nor care for, but with how empty they sounded, and how intimately they draped over him, the fine hairs along the back of his neck stood straight on end.

The room shot up from freezing cold to oppressively stuffy almost instantly from that, and the exorcist swore he could feel the poltergeist's eyes on the back of his head.

He knew, it had to be toying with him, wondering when was the best moment to strike to incur such fear in him that it would stain his soul upon devouring.

But after a few moments without a single stir in the room, the heat left, and all that was left was the bitter cold sweat it left behind.

He had to get out of here.

With one breath, two breaths, Law grit his teeth together and made a dash for where he remembered the exit to be.

As soon as he left his place of hiding, all around there were ungodly screeches and blood curdling sounds of all manners of sickening and beyond.

Demons of all kinds flocked to him like wolves to a bleeding carcass, and it took everything the raven had not to lose his nerve and slip with his injuries.

As he ran, the darkness gradually let up, until he could see the blinding light of day a few meters away, while behind him the thunderous snapping of wood and demented wails of the damned inched nearer with every sprint.
