Youth engulfed in the smells of smoke
Alongside a feeling of joy
While in another place
Two parents scream; I play coyBubblegum, rainbows
Cigarettes and cannabis
As a little boy sleeps although
Hushed voices speak of maliceThe eve of christmas
On a floral velvet couch
Holly and smoke is in the air
As children cry and parents shoutA torn up shirt, fist against the wall
Words of hatred and
I feel myself start to bawlInto the couch
Tears absorbed
Whispered sobsOn Christmas Eve
