Thomas fought with himself every time his eyes were closed. He fought with his fear, he fought with the consequences of what he had been willing to do. The nightmares furled and snarled around his mind caught in the space between his conscious and unconscious.

He was awake enough to hear Jess stirring in his sleep but he wasn't awake enough to ask about it. Finally, when the furious grasp of sleep let go of his weak mind, he laid a hand on the sleeping boy. He felt Jess stir underneath him and the emerald green eyes fluttered open, taking Thomas back for a second.

"Are you okay? You kind of sounded like you were having a nightmare?" Thomas breathed, letting his voice fill the still air. The exasperated look on Jess's face was enough to give Thomas the answer he was looking for.

The next question slipped out without the consent of the boy but he couldn't deny that it was what he had been wanting to ask.

"Did you maybe... I don't know...want to share the bed with me?" Thomas's question but barely loud enough for Jess to hear it but once he did, the subconscious part of his mind took over and he nodded in response.

He knew he would probably regret his actions in the morning but in the darkness that surrounded him, the reasoning part of his mind seemed to have abandoned him. The injured boy scooted over, leaving Jess what little room was left in the small bed.

After Jess crawled in, the two tried to squeeze in without touching the other too much but it was easier said than done considering the size of the bed in relation to them. Given that sleep clouded both of their minds, Jess nuzzled against Thomas's body, wrapping a protective arm around his torso.

Their faces were mere inches from each other, their breathe combing to form one soft stream. The impulses that they both had kept at bay surfaced once more as they intertwined every part they could. In the dark of the night, fear went out the window along with their rationality. Tomorrow was another day and for now they didn't have to be constricted by their respective labels.

The boy who tried to kill himself, the boy who found him.

For now, they were only Thomas and Jess.
